They did put him in the top 5 and now Margarito will elevate him to 2 or 1 depending on how pac deals with diaz.
Not for me......not 1 or 2 yet....of course I see it down the line but Manny and Joe are better right now Can't wait for the Cotto-Margo fight though I can see both taking a visit to mr canvas
Agreed....Look...The P4P list is about who you faught and how well you preformed. Joe has preformed well agasint lesser opponents and looked decent against his most challenging. Pac has faught everyone and anyone who has a belt or is a P4P member. There is no question who deserves to be #1 if Floyd is not active anymore. Joe has a lot to do to catch up but he is going in the right direction. Pac is the better fighter bar none but Joe is the better boxer with out question. But the truth of the matter is Joe wouldn't even be on the list if he wasn't an exciting fighter. His marketablility gave him the chance to make the list b/c he has only one realy name on his record....maybe two if you count the Eubanks who lost twice after his loss to a young Joe C and then retired.
I don't think anyone really stands out. Joe Calzaghe and Manny Pacquiao seem to be the best choices at this time.
I believe the best fighter on the planet regardless of weight class is Joe Calzaghe. After him, Manny Pacquaio. After the 2 of them it's a LONG ways down to anyone else....
Pac has been fighting on foreign soil since he was a kid at 17 and has had over 10* more KO's outside the Philippines than Joe has had fights outside UK. Joe has stepped up his competetion in the last 2 years and became a 2 division champ in the last few months. Pac became a 2 division champ 7 years ago and was fighting top 5 p4p fighters 5 years ago. Pac has beaten 3 HOF'er a combination of 5 times, Joe has beaten 2 HOF'ers twice. The only thing Joe has going for him in the argument is his undefeated record and too much stock is put into that. I really dont see what the argument is here. Pac was #2 before Floyd, after Floyd retires he moves to #1. If the Ring acknowledges Floyd's retirement, it will just further confirm this.
#1: Joe Calzaghe Joe Calzaghe has remained unbeaten throughout his entire career, just defeated an aging middleweight coming off wins against Winky Wright and Antonio Tarver, whilst also unifying the SMW division, and defying every critic in the world by demolishing Jeff Lacy. I have him at #1. I saw Manny Pacquiao lose both of his fights with Juan Manuel Marquez and how he lost to a shot Morales should not be understated. I have him at #4.
It cant be Calzaghe. The only name on his record recently has been Lacy. Who else has he really fought. Until he fights, Pavlik, Tarver or even Roy Jones then I believe the p4p fighter in the world should be Pacman. I also withdraw my original choice of Pavlik for the same reason I can't say Calzaghe is p4p.
