I don't think fear was a driving decision at all, even though I believe Andre thought Bute was better than the Froch fight showed- as you said, it was just the beginning of a series of career management mis-steps. He just got too cute with the strategy and Froch reaped the benefits to rebound in a huge way. :good

Hopefully Ward gets things straightened out now that he's with Roc Nation and can get back to showing why he was a P4P level fighter. They've got some work to do to rebuild his name value.

 

As for the thread title:
1) You can't duck a fighter who isn't in your weight class.
2) It's foolish for Andre to come back straight away and face Kovalev, or even the smaller man in GGG for that matter, after such a layoff.

He'll need to knock the rust off and generate some positive buzz for either fight first. That's not ducking, that's common sense.

SOB refused the rematch unless he could have his personal referee, judges, boxing commission, and yes, all three judges will be Ward's, so Kovalev will have to kill SOB in the ring, which I think he will........................then Ward's judges will call it a draw, they will revive him, lift him up and raise his hand to the boos of the crowd. Vegas is crooked as hell................
