Can all of you blokes let this thread die its natural death and give the rest of us normal folk a break from this league jibberish for at least a few months?
Not really taken too seriously because of the time it is shown here in Aust. Its very early morning and most miss it and add to that the WCC Aust team is almost never the same as the GF winning team. They should do 1 year over there next year here. I like the idea though.

A host of NRL heavyweights including Carl Webb, Jeremy Smith and Richie Fa'aoso all look set to feature on a blockbuster Battle of the Codes fight night on the Gold Coast in December. Fight promoter Jamie Myer has been inundated with phone calls since telling The Daily Telegraph earlier this week that "absolutely no one" would fight St George Illawarra grand final hero Smith. The manager of Knights' prop Fa'aoso was on the phone to this column only hours after newspapers hit the streets, as was Cronulla trainer Losh Matthews - who is helping kickstart the fight career of former Cronulla and ex-Canberra enforcer Jason Williams. Melbourne recruit Jaiman Lowe, Eels prop Fuifui Moimoi and Gold Coast back-rower Bodene Thompson have also been mentioned while Webb, long regarded as having the heaviest hands in League Land, was also in final negotiations last night. "I hadn't heard anything about it until a mate told me about the Jeremy Smith story this week. I'm only green, haven't had amateur fights or anything like that, but I'll definitely have a crack." Lowe also confirmed his interest after trying to get a fight with Sonny Bill Williams earlier this year. "Yeah, that one started out as a joke but I was definitely keen," the Queenslander said. "I've boxed my entire life so would love to be involved in something like this." Matthews believes Jason Williams is a potential world champion. "But he just needs to feel his way first, get a couple of fights under his belt," he said. "He's come into the fight game with a big reputation - he was the toughest man in league for five or six years - so everyone wants to put him in with cage fighters or professionals with 20 fights. "But no boxer does that. So a fight against someone like Jeremy Smith - perfect." The Gold Coast card is shaping up as a huge one for Aussie sports fans with sporting greats Scott Sattler, Sam Stewart, Peter "Spida" Everitt and Shane Heal already confirmed to step inside the squared circle. Titans' retiree Mat Rogers also began training last night for a spot on the card.
