No ****? You're not joking around are you?

If true, good, Spence clearly deserved the win and the games are much better with him still in it. I think he gives any of the remaining boxers in his class hell if not beats them all. As of now I consider him the favorite over all the welters besides Sapiyev.

I got to say i think that's bull****. Iv never seen a decision overturned due to shitty scoring alone. In the Japnese fighter's fight with more than 3 KD which should have been stopped or Lomachenko at worlds where he had 4 points deduced for "low blows" which were legal shots and a legit body shot knockdown are the only examples i can think of.

Second the Savon, Khytrov, Juratoni, Vodopyanov and one or 2 others im forgetting were all worse examples of scoring. Even worse with Khytrov the countback appeared to be a Khytrov win yet the AIBA wouldn't even hear the appeal. Not to mention the 2nd tie breaker where they simply ask the judges who they thought won overall gave it to the fighter Ogogo who was hurt multiple times, was given a standing 8 and got beat up in the 2 of the 3 rounds of the fight. The ref who DQ'd Iran's Mazaheri was suspended but Mazaheri is still out is another example.

    I see your point, however:

    1) They actually went out of their way to avoid overruling the judges and instead claimed rule infringements.

    2) I'm not going to complain about one of the many injustices at these Olympics being undone. I'd rather that Mazaheri got a rematch, that Savon was given the fight he should have won, etc, but it's better that one robbery be undone (or two) than none.

    agreed.

Its the fans pressure on via social media that only the American fighter can generate that caused this robbery to be overturned imo.

    1) What was the rule infraction they complained about?

    2) I agree with that sentiment its just my commentary on perhaps the biggest problem of all which is the inconsistancy of every facet of the AIBA whether it be judging, reffing, handling of appeals, or overturning of decisions.

    3) The most ****ed up thing is that from the 2008 Olympics they made noticable improvements in the 2009 and 2011 World Championships yet at these Olympics all of that has been undone and it's possibly the worst i'v ever seen it.

The infraction was holding and gum shield:

These are excuses I reckon, there just folding under the pressure. It was a blatant robbery.

Just read that the German Ref Frank Scharmach who was suspended due to the Mazaheri DQ debacle was one of the judges in the Spence-Vikas fight. Exactly what im talking about. The AIBA suspend this moron as a ref but allow him to keep judging. ffs

Ogogo also spat out his mouth guard when he was hurt in order to by time. Forgot that before. Yet they wouldn't even hear the appeal.

I honestly don't know what's better. Pro boxing with 4 corrupt sanctioning bodies who usually alternate in the level of their corruptness at different times or one governing body like the AIBA who reigns with their stupidity all at once. Im thinking a carousel of different degrees of ******ation is more preferrable.

The AIBA ruled that the ref should have given points deductions for holding and for spitting out his gumshield. Personally, I think that while they are probably right, this was also the easiest way for them to overturn the fight without overruling the scoring system.

I totally agree that the inconsistency is terrible. But as I said, I'll take this and the Japanese guy's fight being overturned over none of the robberies being overturned. Even though it makes me sympathise with the likes of Mazaheri and Savon even more.

If Ogogo got a point deduction for his gumshield it wouldn't have been 18-18.

Its a disgrace. Hopefully won't set a precedent for fights being overturned/appealed because of minor infractions, the holding was excessive but it is in plenty of these fights.

Ogogo did a buckload of holding.

@IntentionalButt, how does compubox work & can it be introduced into future Olympic games to score these fights correctly
