The reason its underrated is because the best dont want to fight there. It was starting to get really good. If everyone who belonged at Cruiser fought there it would be a great division with fights like Haye vs (in shape) Toney, Byrd vs Jones (the one who went up to heavyweight), Gomez vs Jirov (he's apparently back at cruiser) throw Adamek and Cunningham in with those guys. Mix and match.

The division is very deep. A top fighter fighting the best opponents can easily pick up a few losses along the way. Even middle-of-the-road fighters can give you a fight if you're not careful.

the hw division is top heavy. The KLITS are very good fighters. Wlad is top 10 P4P imo and most unbiased and educated boxing fans would agree. Vitali is a hw destroyer. There is a big drop after that. Moreover, many of the top fighters have very technical styles which aren't crowd pleasing so that turns off many.

I think Adamek is a very tough dude but I don't think he's super skilled. Not impressed with Cunningham though. FLores looked like a club fighter against Wilson. It's more competitive cause there isn't a big difference from the top guy and the #5 or #10 guy. So fights tend to be more competitive. The cruisers tends to

imo >> more skill, talent at hw, more competitiveness and action at cw.

but hws make the most money and there's a reason for that.

I'd take VItali, Haye, Wlad, and Chagaev over Adamek, an ageing Mormeck, and Cunningham.

Yes, there is a high ceiling at heavyweight and the ceiling hasn't been established at cruiserweight because Alexeev is still coming up through the ranks. With a two-headed monster like the Klitschkos everyone else is left looking up at them while disciplined and fundamentally sound fighters like Chagaev and Ibragimov (the next rung) make life even worse for the rest.

At cruiserweight you have a bunch of good fighters but a belt is only a title fight away for a lot of guys. As a result, there is parity and what this does is lead to short title reigns. Only 3 fighters have made it through the division unscathed and they all have the same characteristics. They were decorated amateurs who cut their teeth at cruiser while having heavyweight aspirations. Holyfield, Gomez, and Haye are the fighters I'm referring to for those who don't know. The rest of the guys (other than Jirov, Wamba, and Nelson) won and lost belts within a couple fights.

im sorry, adamek is a really tough guy that is exciting but top 20 p4p is pushing it. get a few more wins to establish his claim as a champ, then u have a leg to stand on.

i was very impressed with his effort against bell but was a little disappointed overall in his fight against cunningham.

Besides the weights at 140-147 I would say it is the most talented and exciting

Dude, you need to teach me that trick. Y'know, talking out of your ass.

There's no way he could make 160 anymore, and he's been fighting at LHW for 2 1/2 years now. He didn't move up to get to Tarver and Johnson, he moved up because he had trouble making weight. He talks about fighting at 168 again, but I doubt he could get there if he wanted to. And to top it all off, he has a frame where he could easily fill out to 225 and fight at HW if he proves he has the chin for it.

    True.

Razor Ruddock was a tall big HW when he fought Tyson, right?

Well, Chad Dawson is the same height. He could easily fill out.

And that Dawson started at MW means nothing. Kessler started as weltherweight or something. SRL started as - hell, cant even remember but the point is - many boxers start way lower than their mature weight class. Dawson could not make 168 - we got that proven when HBO wanted to make Kessler-Dawson. Kessler's people said they would not go to 175 to face Dawson. HBO then asked Dawson if he could make 168... and no dice. Dawson is CW soon and he will be far the best CW - only Alexeev can threaten him.

Nationality plays a massive part in how highly rated a division is, CW is a very European division.

I too think Cruiserweight is better, but the heavies are underrated in their own way.

Vitali's return and Haye's emergence has shaken things up.
