Fat Dan disputed Arum's claims of it being 1.3.

Fat Dan said it's in the high 1.2s.

But let's just go with it being 1.2.

That's still impressive for Pac, is it not?

    Spin spin spin. :D

Anyway, both guys are tremendous draws and are the only ones to bring mainstream attention to the sport, so respect to both of them. I don't see nationality having any sort of relevance. American's love Pacquiao and hate Mayweather.

Answer this first. Why it took them more than 5 weeks to release the numbers?

Not only does floyd hold the record for the top three grossing non-heavyweight pay-per-view events, but he also holds the record for the single biggest pay-per-view event of all time.

Not bad for a defensive fighter and a coward LMAO

Is this a joke? Did being a foriegner stop Schwarzenegger form being one of the biggest movie stars in America? Pacquiao has been fighting in America for over a decade and has been on ppv longer than Mayweather. Him being a foreigner is in no way a hinderence. As far as the numbers for this fight, they're excellent. 1.25M is a huge number in today's boxing landscape.

Nah pac got clottey status, he unknown in america.

On a serious note, pac was doing 400k with marquez at the lower weights which was a record in itself at the time, yet rico suggesting pac is still unknown.

    Spin what exactly?

Mayweather is expected to be the higher draw. He's selling fights in his own country. The fact that he's being run so close by a foreigner, is testament to the brilliance of that foreigner. Why? Because, despite what you claim, nationality does have relevance in this discussion. When it comes to marketing and selling yourself in a country, it helps to actually be part of it and be able to speak the language.

I heard it was 950,000 but now that the manny/Shane fight has proven to be nothing but an estimate I'd like to backtrack all of his ppv numbers so to see if they're official or not.

MANILA, Philippines - The pay-per-view (PPV) buys for the May 7 welterweight title fight between Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley could reach at least 1.2 million buys, according to the chief of Top Rank, the company that promoted the fight.
Bob Arum, Top Rank Inc. CEO, said the PPV buys in PacquiaoÂ’s latest fight could match the estimated 1.2 million buys the Filipino generated during his match against Antonio Margarito last November, according to New York Times.com.

That was De la Hoya. You mean to say, Ortiz also holds the record for the top three grossing non-heavyweight ppv events?
