It looks like over 11% of ESB thought Briedis either won or drew against Usyk. Very interesting.

The only round Bredis won clear was the 9th. 1 and 4 were close as was 12. Usyk 118-111!

Is there some himan predilection to score fights closer than they actually are. Fights can be competitive without necessarily being scored close.

That's with every remotely close fight in boxing, but that doesn't always mean that it's debatable who actually won the fight.
Problem is, that it regularly happens that the guy having about 10 to 15% of the votes ends up getting the nod from the judges. Certainly when he's the home/featured fighter.

Can't recall if I had it 8-4 or 7-5 but it was certainly for Usyk

So then apply this same logic to GGG vs Canelo in which you could see a lot of G’s jabs were picked off, slipped or flat out avoided. Does it change your score?

I had it 116-112, and said 115-113 and 114-114 were fine as well. As far as Usyk-Briedis goes, there were a few too close for comfort rounds, which is why I said 117-111 or 116-112 were also fine.

    Usyk 7/ 5.

    1. Breidas
    2. Usyk
    3. Usyk
    4. Breidas
    5. Usyk
    6. Breidas
    7. Usyk
    8. Usyk
    9. Breidas
    10.usyk
    11. Breidas
    12. Usyk

The fight came within a hair from a draw deciding on the last round. Breidas stole a couple rounds at the tail end .

I thought Breidas landed the cleaner harder shots .The fight was razor close, Breidas landed slightly more head shots , Usyk overall body shots. Overall aggression was Usyk which worked for and against him.

Didn't include jabs in this..I don't believe it changes much. Unless its a lopsided jab fest they generally count last.

Scored the fight twice watching seperatley two times so I counted the punches for each fighter that landed CLEANLY....No one had the edge in total punches landed. If I wasn't counting body shots , Breidas wins.

I could easily see this a draw as one judge had it.

Surprising this fight reminded me of a higher level, faster paced and more evenly contested GGG vs Canelo.

Canelo would have got more than 11% of the vote, but Briedis has a far greater argument for a win.

Briedis actually hurt Usyk multiple times and consistently landed the cleaner harder shots, Usyk landed a few more shots but they weren't as eye catching. GGG vs Canelo was very similar except GGG had more success relative to Usyk. Canelo landed the more eye catching shots but his work rate was dire, Briedis was more competitive with his work rate/clean punching ratio.

    Cosign

Got 2 rds flipped, but perfect score.
I originally had it 7/5 to Usyk
    Rescored 8/4 Usyk

If I give every tight one to Usyk he wins 9/3

If I give em all to Breidis, he wins 115/113

I like Usyk and appreciate his ART, but Breidis is a bad@ss little freight train.
You wouldn't think he was an elite fighter listening to him or looking at him. But...step in his lane and he his class shows.
    Hard to root against him.

    No losers in that fight.
No robbery. No favoritism in the cards, good officiating.

Tough on us Breidis fans but he'll come again, and doesn't need to chase Usyk or Gassiev N, an would undoubtedly beat YD imo.

This fight reminded me of Canelo-Golovkin.

I felt Usyk won 8 rounds and Briedis won 4. However, if you give every benefit of the doubt to Briedis, there is a way he could get to 6 rounds. I did not see the fight as a draw but I understand there is an avenue to get there. There is no path for a Briedis victory though.

Take the Brit out of the arguments and suddenly your making objective posts lolol

Jkjkjk... nothing wrong with a little pride.

    Good take.

Very similar plots, with exception that Usyks jab was not <|= Breidis hard hooking or looping shots. Breidis power shots actually forced Usyk onto the back foot. Breidis actually took control for spells, hurting Usyk to the body and giving him pause in counter opportunities.
Canelos power shots caused nothing more than a step back and reset for the Champ.

But, even giving canelo every competitive Rd doesn't give him a W.
Best case would be 115/114 GGG.
Objective scoring is 116/112---118/110 to GGG.

If Canelo was as successful, he'd have won 120/98, having earned a 10/8 Rd every Rd.
