You heard there was a rehydration clause? There doesn't appear to be any rehydration limit for this bout. I don't know where you heard that. The built in excuse for Chavez if he were to lose have been echoed by a lot of posters here. We have no idea how difficult it will be for Chavez to make 164.5 tomorrow. One thing to keep in mind is that even if Chavez comes in over 164.5, the fight will still go on, he'll just lose percentages of his purse the more he is over. Chavez may be somewhat drained at the weigh-in, but he'll rehydrate and be fine by fight night. I don't see how Chavez will be more drained for this fight than he was for Martinez, when he weighed in at 158, looked like a corpse, but then rehydrated and nearly knocked Martinez out after 12 grueling rounds. Chavez should be able to make the weight no problem, the motivation he has for this fight should result in him losing a couple pounds from where he was last year. Last year I doubt he trained as hard or as often as he has over the last few months. So last year I'd imagine he probably made 168 without having to really strain that hard in training or in terms of diet. With a proper nutritionist and a more intense training like he's had in this case, I think he may make 164.5 quite easily. He's probably somewhere between 165-167 today, and whether or not he can get that last pound off we'll see. Depends how much of it is water weight. But I think many of those are using the weight as an excuse so that if Canelo wins, they'll just use it as another way to discredit Canelo Meanwhile Canelo is moving up nearly two weight classes, which puts him at a huge disadvantage as well and the size advanage Chavez has is significant. You could look at it either way, but I don't think it's just a foregone conclusion like some are making it out to be that Chavez will be drained or unhealthy. We just don't know that.
I think canelo on points, I hope Chavez pulls off a suprise though would be hilarious to see the ginger diva lose.
Canelo will win but he will still remain the most reviled public figure in his homeland and in the long and illustrious history of Mexican pugilism. The Mexican people hate him with a passion. Believe it or not they actually despise him even more than their Mexican-American brethren across the border do. To them, he will forever be known as the king of all cowards and they will never forgive him for bringing shame upon Mexico and their proud tradition of legendary champions and blood and guts warriors.
Well Canelo is untested at this weight, and we know his people have been avoiding it since back when Maravilla was champion. Chavez on the other hand destroyed two respectable middleweights in Lee and Maravilla. Chavez is not a great boxer, but Canelo needs to plant his feet to throw, and I expect it won't be hard for Chavez to use movement and pressure to keep Canelo out of his comfort zone and land some hard shots. So going with the Son of the Legend to pull off the upset.
When I don't like one better than the other, I will root for the underdog. Hopefully Jr will bring the heat.
Yes well that's the key here in if Chavez can rehydrate back up then he has a decent chance,I'm expecting Canelo to be better for not cutting down to 154
