I'm glad they consider this a "big PPV" instead of half the absolute garbage that golden boy promotions has been putting together as of late.
The only time I have seen boxing on the main ESPN page is when DLH has fought and when Floyd announced his retirement and even then they weren't the main story. This is great for boxing-this fight needs all the publicity it can get!!!
Who do you have in this fight Pimp C? Cotto or Tony? if Cotto up for an avatar bet? if Tony wins you sport his Avatar for one year if Cotto wins I will sport Floyds, Deal??:deal
FINALLY! A few years ago this would have been the main story and followed closely for weeks, but for now it seems ESPN is the sports version of MTV and likes the Madonna loves A-Rod and Justin Timberlake espy stories.atsch
Excellent news - and this fight - unlike DLH gayweather - should raise interest in boxing instead of lowering it.
If this fight was seriously promoted the way it should have, it would have won a **** load of new boxing fans instead of turning it away. I remember around campus after the weekend that DLH/Mayweather fought...The fight was so hardcore ridiculously promoted that I heard average bums who have no real knowledge of boxing say "did you see the fight this weekend"....And what did I hear after that? **** like "what fight"..."the world still waits"....It seemed like the fight turned people away from the sport. And its a shame. The truth is, hardcore boxing fans can enjoy watching Floyd Mayweather set traps for DLH over 12 rounds but casual fans can't appreciate a "business transaction" as bob arum calls it! The fights that win over fans are the wars and this should have gotten a real promotion.
Great news for boxing. This is one big fight the people WILL enjoy too. Good to see ESPN giving it headlines.
