I'm not going to lie, that was impressive. That said, that dude is only 210-215lbs max whereas JJJ is 240-260lbs.
Maybe it’s me but from watching the Joyce fight on the wilder card it could be possible that Joyce ko’s him early as he seems to have legit ko power upto now like. Could see a Joyce ko around rounds 3-4 as if Joyce implements a fast tempo from the start it may just overwhelm Him. Yer predictions are the most reasonable but what in your opinion are the chances of a early Joyce ko win?
Would have to go with Ortiz at this stage but Joyce looks like this big lumbering fool throwing slow arm punches that pol ax his opponent into a twitching mess on the floor.. Maybe another Big George???
lol I was just playing. I thought he was in the 240lb range but I also thought he was a few inches taller than 5'11
Ortiz is fishing for a retirement check at the moment. Notice the article says he also wants Whyte and Povetkin aswell? This is Ortiz saying to Haymon "I have a 3 fight big money DAZN deal on my lap, whats your offer?". If the fight happens, Joyce KOs him. Joyce is a much better boxer than given credit for, hes just playing possum for the crowd. Hes an Olympic silver medalist. Notice the difference in his styles between his first fight with Lewison and the rest. Joyce is simply coming forward brawling atm because 1) it is very fan friendly and 2) it makes him look defficient, encouraging bigger fighters to take him on. Joyce would work behind the jab outboxing and outhustling a top 10 but declining fighter like Ortiz for 6 or 7 rounds before taking him out in the 8th to 10th. But if Fury/Wilder refuse to fight him, I wouldnt be surprised either if Joshua destroys Ortiz in a couple rounds in April to put any delusions about whose number #1 to sleep.
Joyce seems good, but this is maybe a bit of a step up. He’s old though for a prospect. He does need to make something happen. I think one intermediate fight first would be better. Rather than going from nobodies right to Ortiz. Duhaupas, Hammer, Jennings, or Wach maybe.
Good fight! I don't care who wins... it can be a headline event perhaps at a smaller UK Venue like copperbox
He reminds me of a weird mix of Antonio Margarito and a more feather-fisted Foreman. He's one of the most machine-like fighters I've ever seen, great work rate and decent looking power, but incredibly predictable in his rhythms, movements, strategy, just come forward throwing as many slow, windup punches as possible till his opponent is on the floor. Can't say I'm a huge fan, but he definitely poses problems to a lot of guys if his chin and face can hold up.
A lot will depend on how well Joyce can take a shot, because he'll be getting tagged and tagged clean by a very heavy puncher. If he can hold up under fire and maintain his non-stop assault he might begin to overwhelm Ortiz and force a stoppage or RTD. It's a very make and break fight for both fighters.
I hope this fight gets made, while it's a big step up for Joyce he doesn't have the time to waste and even if he loses he can just say it was a step too far, too soon. If he somehow wins then he jumps into to contender status and hopefully build some hype around himself. While both have said they want the fight, I still have my doubts about if it will happen. As it always does it will come down to money. Is there enough money in this fight for it to happen. Both will see it as a step up from their recent opponents and if both want a payday to reflect the risk it might kill any chance of it happening which is a shame.
