Seen this guy fight a number of times... still don't understand all the hype surrounding him. He's an OK fighter, really not an elite...maybe a level above geale and adama. So what's up people acting like he's got the porter fight in the bag? To me, porter has every advantage including the style matchup. Somebody tell me what is it i'm missing about brook that he's deserving of all the hype?

What hype. There's a ton more fans acting like Porter's got it in the bag.

Only a few knowledgeable fans rate him who actually watch boxing not hear that he struggled with Carson Jones and aren't boxrec warriors and say he hasn't beat anyone so is garbage.

People seem to think that Porter has the power advantage because he stopped shot Paulie, but it's not true. He's only KO'd 3 of his last 10, Brook 17 of his last 20, of the 3 he didn't KO, 1 he did in a rematch, the other 2 where iron chinned guys who Brook hurt to a greater degree than Canelo did, even though Alvarez dragged them up in weight.

Brook has also the skills, timing and accuracy advantage. Guaranteed if Porter tries to bum rush Brook- who hits harder than Paulie and Alexander combined, Porter will know he needs a different plan after a couple of rounds.

People also say Porter will bully Brook with his strength, but bare in mind unlike Paulie and Alexander Brook is a natural welter and a big one at that.

I also believe Brook thrives better in bigger spotlight. The times he's been a major showcase on Sky was against Hatton who he toyed with easier than Canelo, and Rafael Jackiweiz for the European title, who was the Ring rated number 7 Welterweight and Brook absolutely dominated him, stopping him for the 1st time in his career. In 2 of the rounds RJ lasted he failed to land a single punch. The times Brook hasn't look so special is on an undercard or a low profile fight where he hasn't trained seriously.

He's pretty good but his mandible is REALLY SUSPECT

I see Porter knocking him out in the 5th round seriously, Brook can't take those punches and everyone knows that. :deal

Good reply - I agree with what is above but feel that this fight is really about 'how 'special' is Porter as a fighter?' I actually think that Brook has all the advantages in this fight and if Porter comes out with a win it will show just how good he is/could be!

I don't get why people put more stock in Porter stopping and past prime Pulie than they do visibly hurting a usual iron chin Alexander. I'd put Devon in a class above Brook and that performance is more telling of Porters ability.

Brook has neither fought nor beat a top flight fighter so it's hard to tell how he does vs an actual top opponent it's easy to look good against bums should be interesting to see how he does. Also wasn't Canelo like 18/9 when he fought Hatton/N'Dou while Brook was 25/6 it's really no comparison if Canelo fights them now they don't last 3 rds.

Well, I guess all the questions people have about this guy will be answered this weekend...we'll see if he's really just a hype job or if he's for real

A level about Geale? Based on what?

Brook is all hype atm, as are most undefeated fighters.
    Porter is relatively unproven himself.

Brook is a decent fighter. He gets hit far too much for my liking and his stamina is questionable. Slow journeyman have landed clean on Brook on numerous occasions.

Porter stooped an old Malignaggi, big deal. The fight is not in the bag at all. The only thing that allows me to give the slight edge to Porter is his performance over Devon. Brook, has always fought at home and has never stepped up. Could all be too much for him or he could look great as he does gave some solid skills.

Brooks skillset is levels above Porter. Malignaggis defense was non-existant in that fight, Brook has the reflexes of a cat he will dodge that Porter jab and left hook with ease and pulverize his chin with crisp check hooks

Talented fighter, but this is a huge step up.

Porter has been in with world class fighters.

Senchenko is the best Brook has been in with.

Brook will have to up his game, no two ways about it.

From what I've seen he's a little upright and easy to tag. This could be heaven for Porter who should look to hustle him from the first bell.

The irony about 'The Special One' tag is that there isn't anything really special about Brook, not his boxing or his power. I very much doubt he can get Porter in a muddle with trickery so he's going to have to hope his power turns the trick.

I do wish him well, and that these criticisms spur him on.

You are not missing anything, he is anything but "special" its just that there is many British fans here so they hype him, they are basing his great atributes that he showed against 99% bums and think he can do it vs real fighters, dont forget this is ESB many here thought Bute is top 5 p4p LOL after saturday they will see that Brook is nowhere near world level he can look good vs fighters that let him box once Porter makes it dirty he will break him down and KO him or Brook will quit(just a feeling i have :D )
