Morales is better H2H and P4P. Hops faced great comp but not as good as Erik and if they were the same size EM would be a heavy favorite, I would think. On every other criteria - longevity, accomplishments etc - it goes to BHop. K vs. MAB = MAB
Morales's length and jab would be an issue, but he's not exceptionally fast and has serious defensive holes that Hopkins would be able to exploit and time. I'd make Hopkins a clear favorite due to that and his versatility inside and outside + his better boxing brain.
I wouldn't argue the point too much. I don't think the old Hops counter, hit, hold and move away style would work against Erik's seek and destroy, and the young Hops fought a lot like a less polished Erik. They're both tough as nails, and a pick for Hops h2h isn't really unreasonable.
Why did you make such a evil thread I guess technically Hopkins but Morales is the one we love who produced the amazing fights and had a stellar record of his own.
I think a prime Erik Morales is better than any fighter Hopkins has ever faced aside from a young Roy Jones. He'd definitely be right there.
Was gonna say Hopkins off the bat... but Morales has Barrera and Pac under his belt soooo.... Hopkins
