Interestingly regards to western boxers your criteria is different because you are just western kid, regardless how old are you and stuff you post in this forum, you are laughable and hypocrite kid with big chip on your shoulder inserted by you on yourself.

I at least attempt to be more realistic and do not call Holmes after 1985 th as prime Holmes, Ali from 70 ies as prime Ali and so on and further.
I even do not accuse 36 y.o DLH, 32. y.o Marciano and 38 y.o Lewis cos they had retired.

Unlike you, next poor western kid, european boxers and especially EE boxers hater in forums, troll and not realistic kid.
I guess you never in your life ever had really hard sparring in gym.
Do not lie there, how old are you? Had you ever in your life been punched in the face by someone who is knowing what he is doing?
I think that no and you are below 34 or just crazy and never had trained anything really hard, even non combat sports.

You said he was a generational talent. You do not need experience to show talent, and even so, Okolie hasn't made any major improvements since then. The other night, all he did was show he could jab. Wow!

Briedis troubled him due to how their styles gelled, yet he fought out of a style he doesn't normally fight out of. Sounds like they're close in ability and Briedis fought the way he felt would get him the win, to me. And it almost did. That's them being fairly close in ability, if you can't tell.

Am I supposed to jump off my seat and applaud your list of Okolie's attributes? He doesn't hit harder than Povetkin and Bakole, who's power hardly troubled Hunter at any point. Okolie isn't KOing someone who's chin is extremely reliable vs fighters much bigger and harder hitting. You haven't offered an argument to this.

I don't care for your perception of my behaviour, but I do find it funny that you accuse CST of resorting to Ad Hominem, yet essentially do the exact same thing. There's a phrase about glass houses that you may have heard, although I hardly expect someone who thinks Okolie is a better talent than Usyk to understand.

Considering that there has been a century long debate in various academic circles regarding the definition of the concept of "talent", I highly doubt that you, the Mr George Crawford, have the answer. I have no issue if you lean one way, and I lean toward the other, but you shouldn't so purposefully shoot down others and try to inform them that they are wrong. That screams ignorance - I doubt that you have explored the many interesting debates regarding "talent", but as a gesture of goodwill, I'd happily point you in the right direction upon request.

I would be more than happy to provide you with the reasons for my notion, but what would the point in that be, considering that you have already shown your hand with "Okolie hasn't made any major improvements since then." That is laughable. And I mean L-A-U-G-H-A-B-L-E. Whilst a fair portion of the boxing public are praising McGuigan on his impact, you appear to be in denial. But remember, you are the man who stated that you "so hope Glowacki does him in", when the bout was announced. Many people sided with you, and I was hoping Glowacki would get the win, but at least I'm able to take an objective stance, whether I am right or whether I am wrong.

If Briedis and Usyk are "fairly close in ability" (thanks for the info, George, I'll take it to the bank - just because you said it), then why did it take Briedis 8 years as a professional to win a world title? Usyk was undisputed champion in half, and moved up to heavyweight a couple of years ago with no plans of returning to cruiserweight. Was it because of the disparity in lack of experience prior, or would you shoot yourself in the foot if you were to rationalise from this angle, considering that Okolie could be seen in a similar boat and has won the title in much less time, who already has ambitions of unifying and moving up?

Why would i need to offer an explicit argument addressing your dismissal of Okolie's power? Much of my posts have already touched upon the fact that this is someone who is rapidly developing and even as a world champion, is a work in progress. I did not say that Okolie necessarily knocks Hunter clean out, but I think he would beat him comprehensively and beat him up - I don't think that Hunter's stamina is very good and if he does wane, then Okolie could capitalise. He seems to me the type of guy who's growing into himself and if he smells blood, he will finish. He would smash Hunter, one way or another. I don't pretend to be a boxing expert some (ahem...), and I'm not sitting here with a spreadsheet of boxers with power output calculations, but you are certainly over simplifying power. "Povetkin and Bakole hit harder than Okolie so there". That's a great, nuanced argument.

Considering that you don't know how to differentiate between "who's" and "whose", I wouldn't chance it with the wisecrack remarks (inferring that I would not be able to understand the stones and glass houses proverb). My posts have been addressing the boxing, and calling someone a "troll", with absolutely no rationale behind it, is indeed ad-hominem. If someone approached me to discuss the boxing, no matter their opinion, I wouldn't simply call out "troll". Do yourself a favour and learn the game theory strategy "tit for tat" and how that differs from someone initiating an ad-hominem remark. For someone who has such a high opinion of themselves, you sure do come across as petty.

No, he was not in half year.
He had 9 wins via stoppages in row, then he had defeated Glowacki in Poland and Hunter in U.S.
Then he get Huck in Germany and after this better fights.
This was not 1 year, not also 2 years.

If about Briedis country, this is small country and pro boxing was not allowed 1945-1992, later they had more things to do than worship pro boxers. No one normal average self respecting person cared about them in his country.
Until maybe some kind of end of 2012 th, like this.

The best dreams is that in Briedis home country more than 1 % ppl does knows who AJ, Al, eddie or Okolie is.
    They do not care.
Pro boxe is levels below basketball and soccer for population and is overvalued only by fighting sports fans.
Otherwise this is piece of cake in Baltics. Piece of cake for majority of population who never will knew that dudes like A.J or Eddie exists in this world.

    No hope there.

I think you do not know difference of popularity between prize fighters watching and another stuff in Baltics.
They of course before covid might had sold maybe 10000+ normally priced tickets by western measure and also fans usually are normal.
Not crazy. Dudes like Usyk had get a lot of respect from them. Not only he alone.
To compare with cool music stuff, when even 45000 ppl might pay for tickets in financial crisis depth, this does not looks cool for pro fighting industry and fans at all.

So what do you think talent is? Because I can guarantee that Okolie is not a 'generational talent' no matter what broad definition you use to suit your own argument. Aside from maybe power, he isn't more talented than Usyk under any definition.

Nothing I have said is more laughable than you saying Okolie is a generational talent. Aside from a jab - something I already mentioned - he didn't show a thing on Saturday that he didn't show already. If you feel otherwise, please feel free to compile me another one of your incredible lists. I was touched by the last one. Bit weird that you're looking through my posts, but whatever. If you did a proper job, you'd also see that I picked Okolie to win before the fight started. Just because I didn't want him to doesn't mean I didn't see it coming.

You can take my word for it or not, what I'm saying aligns with what actually happened in the real world. I'm not making strawmans about the time between turning pro and winning the title despite the fact that one was quite obviously fast tracked after one of the most accomplished amateur careers ever. And as for Okolie winning it earlier in his career than Briedis. Hmm, I wonder who'll get to a title first? A UK success story backed by the best promotor in the country, or a nobody from a foreign land who needs a translator for big words? What a mystery.

What a load of bollocks  You actually explicitly said: "Okolie would knock someone like Michael Hunter clean out." and then followed up with: "Okolie would rout Hunter". And why are you acting like discussing power needs to involve a nuanced argument? Hunter has fought much bigger punchers and fighters than Okolie and shown his chin to be outstanding, and has hardly wavered vs fighters who dwarf Okolie in power. That's enough of an argument to laugh at someone who, let's not forget, said Okolie would knock someone like Michael Hunter clean out.

Ironic that you're calling me petty while picking me up on grammar. I thought you were sticking to boxing, not meaningless mistakes. I assume you've never wrote your where you should've wrote you're? Heaven forbid that the fairy tale hero Safin makes a small, insignificant mistake that only a pedant gives a **** about! We were going tit for tat, were we? Perhaps you'd like to refer to bit where I went after you with a personal attack? You gave an argument - and a poor one, at that - then stuck an insult on the end. Hate to break it to you, but that's ad hominem. You're a hypocrite, and a wanker.

Okolie has done very well to achieve all that he has in the time-frame he has but most of his success can be attributed to him just being absolutely massive for the weight and having the reach (82.5'') and height of a SHW (6'5''). He has a slightly longer reach than AJ and is only an inch shorter than him and E-Hearn said the other day that he reckoned that Okolie would've been 16st plus in the ring on Saturday night. Glowacki is a small CW who weighed in 4lbs below the limit and only has a 75'' reach and even if it was a prime version of him he would've struggled to get into range to land his shots.

Briedis also has a short reach (75'') and is 36 y/o but he's much better than Glowacki in every department. Goulamirian (73.5'' reach) and Makabu (74'' reach) are really dangerous too but the later is a small CW. I think Doriticos vs Okolie would be interesting because he has a 80'' reach and a great chin and he doesn't have to navigate much distance to get into range and land his shots albeit he might be on the slide too now. Goulmirian vs Okolie would be interesting too because whilst he would be giving away a lot in height and especially reach he's very strong and durable and he just walks you down behind a tight guard seemingly impervious to everything you throw at him.

It's a good fight probably the biggest one to be made at Cruiser weight.
Briedis is actually one of my favourite fighters to watch he has really good skill pretty much solid in every department.
Okolie has become one of my favourites now to for other reasons he just cracks me up looks like a lanky twat in the ring but it works for him not to mention his terrible hip hop music videos LOL

Usyk's background in amateurs was very decent: looks that he in 2006 th had bronze medal : European championships, later improved and 2008th : gold medal. World Championships: 2009 : bronze. Usyk improved further and 2011 : Gold medal. 2012 th: Olympic gold.
Then he had competed in WSB semi pro tournament, get 6-0 record in WSB.
Moved to full pro 11 sep 2013.
First World title : WBO World title by defeating Glowacki in Poland. This was 10 th Usyk's pro fight. 17 sep 2016.
Actually Usyk had relatively long road till pro title belt. Competed vs elite boxers in amateur ranks since some 2006 th.

Yeah. I think Dorticos isn't enough advertised and promoted.
He KOs people, ofc didn't managed to defeat then fresh prime Gassiev and old Briedis.
Anyway, he already had 2 belts : in both cases he had get them by stoppage wins and on foreign soil.

All I am going to say is there there is a LOT of interest in this fight, and it should be made. I am a Briedis, but another couple of performances like that, and I will be an Okolie fan.

Yeah, I think he should fight with weight ins weight 213-214 lbs where his legs (joints) looked well "lubricated" and then he was really well watchable fighter. If he will not retire and will choose to continue fight.

I don't like Okolie, he should be HW but too scared to fight at that weight and trying to bully people at lower division.

I hope Briedes breaks his face and makes him quit in the 6th round.
