Old Fighters Getting Mugged...

Of course WALES, not England...I stand corrected!

 

Not related to boxing, but Bruce Lee almost weekly had guys try to fight him on the street and even come to his house to start **** with him. The funny thing is Bruce always took them on. If someone wanted to challenge him in a street fight he would do it and he kicked the **** out of all of them.

 

I think that even on his death bed Jack Dempsey could be a badass.

 

Here's one that got a bit of attention last year: Frank Corti, a former UK soldier and featherweight boxer, was attacked by a drunken neighbor with a knife. Corti hit the guy a couple of times and wrestled with him until the police arrived.

Sombody tried to mug a 70+ year old Jem Mace and ended up being put in a coma for several days. It was the closest Mace came to killing sombody with his fists.

A few years ago sombody tried to snatch Nigel Benns bag at the airport and got the worst of the argument.

 

Speaking of mugging=
Last night while walking ,a guy stuck a gun in my back and screamed "stick em down", I corrected him and replied "you mean stick em UP "
He said "no wonder I'm not making money " !

JG, yes I WAS a standup comedian, but i developed flat feet, and now I have to sit down !
Last week I was mugged in my library, and I had to WHISPER for help !!.

 

For real, did you do standup in the Borscht Belt, b? Used to see Buddy Hackett 'n Alan KIng in the Catskills.

 

jg No,I boxed a bit in the service, but I didn't have the courage to do comedy on stage..My deceased wife did some comedy [she married me },but as some wit once wrote,"Dying is easy, comedy is hard]!
P.S. Alan King and Buddy Hackett both did a little boxing as kids..b.b.

 

jg One funny incident related to boxing I recall...In 1945 a fighter named Lou Schwartz ,
who was married to my sisters best friend, came to my house..I was young at that time but knew my boxing...Lou Shwartz was a good middleweight who just was kod by Jake Lamotta in the first round in Norfolk Va...I asked him "Lou,what made you get knocked out by Lamotta in the FIRST round ?"..He answered seriously,in anger "I didn't hear the referee counting 10,twasn't my fault ". I had no answer for that...His marriage didn't last much longer than thefight ...b.b.

 

I made a net profit last time I was mugged.

The guy ran off and I ended up clutching his wristwatch.
