Oleksandr Usyk (heavyweight) vs Prime Mike Tyson

There would be nothing to take from the fight because Ruiz is that limited. That's the point. There is nothing close to Tyson in the era. Except Maybe Povetkin who retired. He couldn't put ancient Ortiz away who Martin dropped with a jab, so I personally don't think he hits harder

 

Do you think Ruiz is feather fisted or something...? He let Ortiz off the hook, and Ortiz went into his shell. Probably trying to pace himself and get some rounds in since he hadn't fought a world class opponent in a while.

Yes there would be something to take away. He has power, hand speed, combinations, a solid chin, and applies non stop pressure. That's at least something. Nobody at any point said Ruiz had similar skills, technique, head movement, or finishing ability. I literally even brought that up but for some bizarre reason you think I'm trying to say Ruiz is a perfect equivalent in this era.

If I wanted to envision how someone would look against Max Baer for instance, Wilder would be the closest example. Wladmir had some similarities to Ernie Terrel, but obviously hits harder and was more skilled overall. To act like there's absolutely nothing in common means you're blind.

 

Ruiz has more in common with Tua. You can't envision Tyson vs Usyk by studying Usyk vs Ruiz when Ruiz has slow feet and no head movement they are worlds apart. He was getting outmaneuvered by Ortiz and outboxed despite the 3 knockdowns its not a good example. Ortiz got dropped by a jab from Martin so i don't think dropping him isn't impressive and in fact he couldn't finish him

Stylistically Chisora has more in common with Mike Tyson than Ruiz

Ruiz hits harder than Tyson? Behave. The fact Ruiz is noted in this era shows how weak it is. Usyk is a good fighter but he beat AJ. He isn’t beating Lewis or Tyson.

I think it’s a lot more competitive than people think. Neither guy fancied each other’s styles. On one hand, Tyson never looked stellar against guys with quick feet. Tillis, Tucker, and Douglas all moved well and gave Tyson a work load. On the other hand, Usyk doesn’t like pressure. Briedis, Chisora, and AJ had success when pushing a forward pace. However, Usyk does consistently show that he can adjust to difficult styles and can push a stronger pace if needed.

I think I’ll go with Usyk by decision based off of his consistency and the fact that he never really seems to tire out. Tyson tended to take his foot off the gas in the later rounds and has shown to be more vulnerable than Usyk.

 

I know the forum loves Usyk. And being a fan of Tyson is too cliche etc.

The reality is it is two completely different eras. Usyk is not moving to HW is the likes of Tyson are there. Tyson would run through him violently. Too fast, too powerful at his prime. Usyk is a ATG cruiser, enjoying life in a poor HW era (Fury included). No comparison IMO

 

Let’s see how shot old Tyson handles a midget tattooed YouTuber first before we put a 58 year old HW legend in with a blown up cruiserweight with no pop.

Ruiz is literally nothing like Mike Tyson besides being short and fast lmfao. Chisora is better and more agressive on the front foot as shown against Parker, bobs and weaves his head as he comes forward.

If Chisora isn't offbrand Mike Tyson, how is Ruiz ?

 

There’s a lot to take into account from both sides.

But to me, the stylistic match up is the most important thing to consider.

Mike would have had to have been favoured for me, as I don’t see how Usyk could have kept him off.
