1. Hatton is a bit more of a lad, a more down-to-earth, normal guy. He's been publicised throughout his career, as well, even before the Tszyu fight, whereas Calslappy wasn't really popular until he put a beatdown on Lacy live on national TV. 2. Yeah, but Haye's been in the shadows compared to Hatton and Calzaghe for whatever reason. He doesn't get press outside the boxing world, really. When Hatton or Calslappy win, all the news stations will say something about it, even non-sporting stations like the BBC; but they don't say anything about Haye. If he beats Wlad they might.
Definitely 10 at 140 pacman is gonna be in for a tough fight, and will be tested for sure.. hope he wins though (w/ a perfect gameplan)
Hatton is massive in this country. I was at work the other day and there is a lad who doesn't like sports really at all(gay I know) and is more in to bikes and that. Anyway I told him I was going watch David Haye and he said" who's that" I said "David Haye, heavyweight boxer, black guy" him "no never heard of him" me "don't you like boxing" him "I always watch Hatton" me "do yo pay ppv?" him "yeah, course I do, Hatton's hard as ****, he's ace, I'll sometimes watch Khan as well". He's not the only one who I've heard say that either, Hatton is popular as **** over here. Oh and when Haye beats Klit, I expect him to become pretty big over here as well.
if star power..then i would say as high as 11 for his devouring followers but world wide, maybe_7.5 at least?
Here in England we love our sportsmen to be underskilled but with huge amounts of heart. Calzaghe was too talented and didn't throw caution to the wind and fight the really dangerous fights for less money, that's why he had less fans. Ricky is talentless but has got to where he is by geniune hard work and passion. He is endearing in the way he genuinely thought he was going to beat Mayweather but where push came to shove he was leagues below Mayweather in talent. People get caught up in his enthusiasm, I almost actually believe he is going to beat Manny? It just seems like he's got so much determination, the reality is that Manny will destroy him. The fans here in England love an underdog.
true, plus you yanks have more world class fighters to pick from, so there fan bases is more spread out

it's got nothing to do with loving an underdog, he's only really been underdog in 2 fights, koysta and pbf and the pac fights coming up out of 40 odd fights. and to say he's talentless is stupid, no boxer that wins domestic titles let alone being an elite boxer is talentless.
I have followed him from Ireland for years, and have been at the castillo fight and the callazo fight. The reason people like him is he is honest, very exiting to watch (more so in the early days) fearless ( witter doesnt count) and a genuine charismatic and funny guy. If he was Irish the whole of Ireland would be there. Its hatton not his nationality that makes him the star imho.
Hatton's the biggest draw in boxing right now. Over in England there's abit of a divide between the north and the south but even the southerners follow Hatton all over the globe. Because were the ones with the money. But more importatntly because you cant not like Ricky Hatton. Hes down to earth, funny and always in an exciting scrap. Ive met him a few times and he always makes an extra effort with his fans. On one occasion his own security team looking after him were hurrying him out the door but Ricky was still giving his autograph to his fans. Actually, Hatton has a house over in Tenerife and while i was over there one of the local bar owners told me a story about what he done on a night out. Apparetly, Hatton was in a pub pissed, as you'd expect. When he saw a local photographer strugglin to make any money off the tourists for pictures on their keyrings. Next thing you know that old legend puts himself foward and poses so the tourists could get a pic with him. Needless to say, the pictures sold like hot cakes. What a man, what a man...
:nut Okay... you've set a mighty high bar for absoludicrous-ness, but let me see if I can top it... how about: "If Mike Tyson could sell out Madison Square Garden by masturbating, then Hatton joining him would bring about world peace for as long as they could last." Hmm... nah, you've still outdone me.
Ricky is the wear your opponent down, more activity then your opponent, type of fighter, power is probably 4.
