Firpo not only knocked him down, but out of the ring.

No. Holmes was Ring but never linear. Leon was the last linear champ before Tyson.

Neither was Holmes. Him beating a coming out of retirement Ali doesn't count. Rummy is wrong.

Baer I had in mind, Leon Spinks I wondered about, was Larry linear? And what about Michael?

Ok but every linear list I've seen included the accepted has Holmes linear.

This is where the whole "linear" thing falls apart IMO. An old, inactive ex-champ can make a comeback in whatever condition, after however many years of not fighting, and whoever beats him is now the champ? Pretty absurd.

In answer to the question, Baer I think. Vitali was Ring champ for a while too, if you count that.

The only two heavyweight champions never to be floored are Vitali Klitschko and Oliver McCall. McCall is still fighting, he must be 50+ years old by now.
