Frankly, I never heard of Flu affecting someone overnight!!! It tends to build for a couple of days so his symptoms (coughing, sniffling, runny nose....) should have been obvious to all around him at the weigh-in.

I wasn't there.... but my guess is the weight issue caused him to pull out. Does that make him unprofessional and a coward? I seem to recall those lablel being given to Guzman!!

If it is the result of making weight then it's stupid (but legitimate). If it is a bad cold (and breathing through the nose is the problem) it is alright to cancel the fight. If it really is the flu it is even more the right decision, because the flu can kill you. The only thing which is for sure is that he isn't ducking Marquez.

actually depends on a person. I woke up yesterday with a sore throat and flu and didn't have any symptoms a day before. Guzman didn't make weight and he was moving up, Arthur did.

Who the **** cares. He can, and he did.

Kinda odd though - I would have expected him to duck before the weight in, if the weight was a problem.

Well, flu certainly can affect one overnight, and it sucks big way. I had flu last winter - I felt I was ****ing dying for two days.

Being weight drained also ****s up your immune system, so it is actually easier to fell sick.

I am not claiming it is all legit, but it is certainly not an impossible thing to happen. If he was ducking - I would have expected some lame training injury before weight in.

Even Marquez said he thought the pull-out was legit, and that Abraham looked like death at the weigh-in.

    Nope.

    He ain't Ali.

He used to post as Bustalip.

    Mostly anti Euro crap.

When Calzaghe beat Bernard, he disappeared, but recently reappered with the new username.

    New name, same spiel.

If he was weak from making weight and not the flu I'm sure the IBF will be looking into it and the doctor will give them a legitimate answer. I seriously doubt him and his promoter will be able to buy what the doctor will have to say, things like that aren't that easy to escape from considering there is another team with Marquez looking into it and obviously asking the IBF to also look into it. They can't just escape it with a fake illness, if he did he would have been caught and wouldn't be allowed to postpone. My honest opinion is that he IS sick and can't make the fight so they're postponing it, if that's not the case then we will find out the truth in the next few days because as I said there's no way the IBF and Marquez' team will sit on it if there's something they are suspicious of.

Its not like he came into the fight with a broken jaw lol, and for all we know he could have no energy at all and lose embarrasingly.

But before getting this into a personal war between US an Europe, we should stop this discussion here.

Open up a thread in the lounge, a place that it fits...

Americans will always try to overcome their inferiority complex towards Europe by acting like fools. You are a very good example for this behaviour :good

All I see is a bunch of Pav fans and bandwagon Mexican fans jumping all over AA. The objective posters know that he might've been sick, dehydrated or whatever the case, but the bottom line is he didn't feel good enough to fight. James toney never should've fought Tiberi. He had to lose a lot of weight before that fight, and when he made weight, he looked bad, cramping up. Tiberi never landed any meaningful shots, and Toney got over on his defense, but that is a situation where a guy shouldn't have taken the fight. The fight with Marquez is next month, and you PAv and bandwagon fans have to get your licks in I know. But you can't change anything. I'd do it too if I wanted another Mexican fighter or PAv's nemesis to win a title. Get the licks in now lol. Marquez only has a month left.
