More of Ortiz being better than I expected than Berto being not as good. I always saw Berto as a guy with fast hands but with a skill-set far below his physical talent (sort of like how I see Khan). I thought that was going to be enough to beat Ortiz, but Ortiz did much better than I expected, from a physical and mental standpoint.

He's not a bad fighter. Ortiz knew his weakness was on the inside, and not many fighters could've exploited that. Ortiz also knew he didn't have the best stamina and that a high-work-rate would have him win. Berto was matched up fairly well. It's not like his resume is all that bad. In fact, going into the fight it was still better than Ortiz's. Although, Ortiz has had a rough break with the Maidana quit and then the Peterson draw (Which was not a good decision).

Maidana just cashed in on 'one punch can change a fight' with Ortiz. It can impair your defensive ability and it is all down hill after that.

weak excuse. you could say Ortiz did the same with Berto

Maidana was better than Ortiz on the night and whooped him, end of story.

Actually i always knew ORtiz was this good.. In fact he was fighting with this kind of fire until after the Maidana fight..... I thought that Oritz was gone after 2 fights in a row.. Where he fought cautious and a little gun shy against guys he should have kod.

GOod to see the old Ortiz back.. Now if he can only tighten up his defensive lapses when he goes to war... He does that he can be an elite fighter.. But even now he might anyone outside of PAc and Manny at Welter... I think he might Ko the smaller bradley who might mix it up with the sronger harder hitting ORtiz. WOuld be an awesome fight though.

All good man -- never thought you had! :good

Believe me, I've gotten plenty of calls wrong in my time. Hopkins-Pavlik being one of the more laughable ones. :rasta

Excuse? I haven't seen the fight but one poster claims this did happen with Berto in the first. Ortiz was doing pretty well against Maidana as I recall. Every where else in the world people believe things happen for a reason. On ESB it would seem there is no such thing as reason.

Well he was more hungry and caught a careless Ortiz.. But actually Oritz had the superior skills, he was well on his way to knocking out Maidana if he had just waited for the ko to come... Ortiz was putting the breaks on when he shouldnt have (vs Peterson and Campbell a light punching boxer and an old man) and putting the pedal to the medal against a bomber like Maidanawhen he shouldnt have..

TOnight though it was a great showing, and it was a title fight.. So i applad him for his balls out fire in the eyes fight plan.

You're right -- he is not a bad fighter, at all. Good power, big heart, good speed. Honestly, he reminds me a lot of Jermaine Taylor, though I think Taylor may have had more skill. I might be wrong about this, though. I'd have to think about it more.

Another great post by you. :good
