Anyway, whether Floyd has ducked loads of fighters or whether loads have ducked him, fact is what he HAS DONE is not that much and doesn't add up to the legacy of an ATG, especially considering how lacklustre some of his performances have been and the fact that his attributes just aren't that great (for example, he has a seemingly great defence but very little punch variety) which means, in short, he is very, very good but unless he does something sharpish, the '0' will be all he has. Mongs may fall for it and assume that makes him one of the greatest of all time, I know differently. Pac could get smashed by Mosley inside a round and he'd still be greater than Floyd. Go figure.
Mayweather was not mid 150. He was not over 150lbs. He was 146lbs in the night agaisnt De La Hoya so the same applys to him.
What makes me laugh is that Floyd treats his fans worse and worse as times go on yet they become even more rabid and blind to the fact that he's just taking them for mugs. It's not as if there aren't any entertaining, likeable fighters out there..... four years ago he was involved in perhaps the most boring superfight of all time.... on a par with Leonard vs Duran 3. I'm not sure how HBO will react to this potentially going down, this fight isn't anywhere near as intriguing as Cotto vs Margarito 2....
1) Arum would move Cotto vs Marg 2 2) Even if they did clash Mayweather vs Ortiz would do double the PPV sales.
seriouslly if Pacquiao signed to fight Ortiz next everyine would be jizzing in there pants. to many hypocrites when it comes to mayweather.
agree. and HBO would pick Mayweather vs Ortiz over Cotto vs Margarito. They wouldn't have to think twice.
I'm not sure BB. Mayweather is a big draw simply because people want to see him get knocked the **** out. I assume Ortiz brings a big Mexican following, so it would see quiet well. On the other hand, we have two fighters beaten to a pulp by Pac, one of which has had his entrie career thrown in question, and the other beating a Jewish nobody and a past it trash talker. I dont really expect their second fight to be as good as the first tbh.
Yes, because for Pac it would be another solid win to add to a good resume. With Floyd, his fans, as they do every time he wins, use him fighting as as a justification for an average resume and act like the sun shines out his ass with yet another negative, boring performance. Because he's 'technically brilliant'. Mainly because his rabid fans haven't actually watched much boxing and haven't seen how many more technically superior fighters there have been. And with better resumes as well. Why anyone rates him I don't know; average resume, poor attitude, boring fighter.
This is true (even tho Ortiz Pac would be a better fight to watch). In truth, its a pretty good 'comeback' fight, so long as he stays active. If its a fight solely for the money and we see another retirement, its pointless. The only fight worth coming back for is Pac, and Ortiz is a very very good warm up
Mayweather holds his own with any fighter from any era. Very few have been as good as him defensively. Whitaker is the closest but I think Floyd is even better than him defensively.
Anyone 'in the know' knows that Ortiz has ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE with Floyd. Look at it like this; shown to have no heart and little technical skill, Ortiz uit against Maidana, threw an easy win away against Peterson, and then moved up and beat the biggest hype job in the game in Berto. No doubt when Floyd beats him easily in a one-sided affair it will prove just how 'great' he is, despite the fact that this Ortiz is probably not as good as the Judah that Floyd already beat.
Floyd weighed in at 150 the day before the Oscar fight, so unless he spent the rest of the day in the steamroom I highly doubt he was down at 146 in the ring. As for the Marquez fight he weighed 146 and looked ripped to hell.... and seemed bigger on the night..... against Shane I doubt he was anything less than 155. I'm not criticising him, I mean, many welters get in there around 160. But if you can't see that Mayweather vs Marquez and Pacquaio vs Marquez are mutually exclusive contests for many reasons including weight I give up.
