Had fame not softened him, he could definitely have got a few more years of prime performances out of himself. Should have stayed in good shape and fought Winky in the 2004-5 period rather than doing the Sturm-Hopkins thing, which was really uncalled for. It's a pity a lot of his close fights didn't have rematches either. I think he could have won all his close fights at welter in rematches assuming he was in shape.
he would be an ATG if not for that horrific Lingerie incident. jk. I'd say top 20 at best, top 50 at the least
Primarily because of how he looked at 154 and above. And to answer the thread, yes he's absolutely an atg.
Oscar just looked ok in that fight imscar more so because he gave slugger far too much respect(i think he could have won widely had he just let his hands go more, which had been a bad idea in the first fight against pre-Forrest Combo punching Slugger) and Mosley looked a shellshocked one punch at a time plodder.Amazing how much he deteriorated after those fights with Vernon.
Oscar's problem was he moved too high in weight and his power was not as effective. He didn't want to fully commit at 147 and he was a little slower, so he decided to win decision so he wouldn't risk being knocked out. I bet if someone asks him what is the difference between 140 and 147 for you, he would say a lot. The biggest difference I ever saw in a fighter in one weight class in power and strategy. If 140 was the real 147 he would have been so dominant.
