I think he'd do fine 80-82--bums 83--avoids Chavez and Camacho at 130, beats whomever else he fights 84-85--undefeated at 135, beats Camacho (probably) in first super fight 86-87--moves up to 140. Fights Chavez at a catch weight and probably wins. 88-89--Rematches Chavez at 140 and wins. Moves up to 147 and it could play out a lot of different ways. He'd probably beat Brown. He might lose close or split fights with Starling. He'd probably have a slight edge over McGirt and Honeygrahm but is capable of losing, etc.
Depends on when he starts getting the benefit of the day-before weigh in. When did that start? 1983-1984? Without that he'd be up at 147 by the time of Curry and Starling. I don't think he beats Curry if he meets him at his best. But if he can drain down I can't see any real threats, seeing how Chavez and Pea would be a couple of years behind in terms of weight classes.
Fair point, but couldn't we just as easily assume that he manages his weight so that he makes 140 anyway?
Not including same day weigh ins, he beats absolutely everyone in his path other than Whitaker at 135lbs although Oscar was very big in frame and overall in length dimensions at 135lbs. His power was scary, too...so I wouldn't pick Whitaker with confidence. I don't know enough about Donald Curry so I can't say. He'd beat Starling, though.
