Oscar is too old for Floyd but Shane is just right for Cotto?

    Some food for thought

Shane Mosley is the #1 contender at Welterweight right now.

If it wasnt for Mayorga, DLH would have been fighting Mayweather on a 3 fight losing streak.

Hoya could have beaten a top 10 154ber, its just there is no names in that division and the mayo fight was. Not to mention mayo was at least WBC champ.

I can do that with any fighter..

Cotto fought Judah who was on a 2 fight losing streak.

If it wasen't for nobody Daryl Tyson Corley was on 2 fight losing streak as well.

See what I did there? And DLH didn't lose again Sturm. He won btw.

Mosley is older but he's an active fighter...Both Mosley and Oscar are past their primes but I would say that Cotto winning (should he win) over a full-time fighter and top contender in Mosley would be more impressive than Mayweather beating part-time fighter De La Hoya.

PBF didn't look too impressive in beating DLH, but Oscar is the bigger guy, so I don't want to be too critical of Floyd. It was a good win, just nothing too special.

That is becuase the titlist fights for the true love of boxing not fulfull his own ego and take the lowest risk for the biggest pay day.

Miguel has been a champion for a short time and is already taking on a fighter as dangerous as mosley.

and let's see if Fraud has the balls to fight the winner.

Maybe Fraud might go and fight Juan Diaz at 135 after his fight with Hatton.

Because Floyd says he is going to rip de la hoy apart and is goign to stand toe to toe, he made a promise but as soon as the bell rings he gets on his bicycle. Its not our faults that floyd creates higher expectatins that what he can deliver where as Mosely and Cotto do what they say. It is all about how the individual fighters are able to appeal to the audience.

And btw, floyd was an excellent 130/135 lb fighter, no complaints there. I give him credit for the weight jump however I just don't like it to say he fought in 5 diff weight classes on a technicality.

De la hoya is not a realy junior middleweight. Zab judah is not a real welterweight, he does not fight zab until zab loses back to back anyway. Baldomir really sucks . Gatti sucks.

Aside from Oscar, I am still trying to figure out where his big fight was in the higher weight classes.

And his other big fight will be against a 140 lber.

I am not saying floyd is not great but he talks himself up to be better than what he is and people dont buy his bull****. People want to see hinm walk walk the like Jermain Tayler, Moselye, Cotto....everyone is taking on risk except floyd.

I even give Paulie more respect than Floyd becuase I beelive paulie when he says he wants to fight the best. You cannot self proclaim yourself as P4P the best trying to fight the lowest risk for the biggest pay day. I am sick of it.

Floyd should get more credit for the victory and performance considering that in order to fight Hoya he had to agree to all those stupid conditions as if Hoya wasn't already the bigger man who wasn't that slow in handspeed. Ring size.. etc etc etc... Floyd was being hindered in what performance he would have before the opening bell, before the fight was even made/agreed upon noless.

That was meant to workrate and not so much to physical age. I think this happens at the right time cause many have said that Miguel A. Cotto has been put in the slow track by handlers after the Torres fight and has fought boxers who can't punch or sluggers who can't box, he needs the name fighter in Shane whereas Shane needed a brutal challenge in the savage, hungry young'un Cotto to prove if he is still to play an important role in the welterweight division and if he undeed turned the clock back like it certainly looked likely in out-punching another 10 years younger Puerto-Rican, top class welter in Collazo. I believe it took an extra preparation and effort from Hoya to make it about the same pace as Mayweather's and will not take unusual physical stress from Shane to match Cotto's pace ( I am not talking about strength, that's another matter).

I think its not just Cotto getting more credit for fighting Mosley. PBF would definetly get more credit for fighting Mosley than DLH, heck Mosley is probably everyones favourite to beat PBF if they had to pick one.

What people? All Cotto did was beat one of Floyds leftovers.

Age is a relative concept in boxing though to be fair. Mosely is 7 years older than Vargas ffs

I dont know.. Oscar should still comeback in my opinion.. He was nowhere near winning his fight with PBF, but he looked good, and wheres the competition at 154, and who's to say he couldnt give Pavlik problems? ;-)

That's one explanation, and the other one is that Cotto at this point is held to a lower standard than PBF because practically noone rates him as #1 p4p

They rank him top 5. I hold everyone to the same standard. Beating a good fighter is beating a good fighter.
