Okay,. fight week. It's safe to bump this thread with the optimistic expectation that the discussion will center on Wale and not any Aussie Forum drama, oi?
Yep... fight week it is. Got me two tickets, ready and waitin to do the honours of texting Leon the fight results as they happen. I'm hoping for a convincing middle rounds stoppage for Oyewale.
Philby... Oyewale looked incredible against Augustus, maturing in the fight so to speak. He said post fight that he'd never had the punishmend dished out so covincingly. His Mrs was being comforted by my g/f during the fight. Actually, I dont know who felt the more sympathetic.. O-O will have his hands full in this bout, with the winner being inline to take on the WBA champ.
I am sure he did!:good What i was wondering about was that Augustus said that had never been knocked out by an actual punch before ,which is untrue. Cheers:thumbsup
Clearly no one has done as much damage to Augutus, if he forgot about the other KO's.. He did say quote "I have never been stopped by a single punch like that" O-O had dropped him a couple of times, before finishing later. He had been dropped by single punches, and ended in the same fashion. Hope to see the little Korean banger cop the same. :good
Read carefully now: (the only time Emanuel admits to having been stopped by a punch in 75 professional outings - many of them against some real killers). He had three other "stoppage" losses on his record, but none were instances of being put down for the count. Against Mayweather his corner intervened. Here's the copy on his "KO loss" to Allan Vester - "Emanuel, behind on the score cards, dropped to the canvas and allowed the referee to count him out as the bell rang. He got up on the count of 10 as the referee waved the fight off, because the bell cannot save a fighter. The local hero did score with a light right but it was clearly not a knockdown. " - so you can interpret this one as being "thrown" or him simply giving up. His only other stoppage loss (that's a total of four out of 31...and out of 75 bouts all told) was when he was 6-2-1, and was a TKO loss to Jesus Chavez. Given that it's listed as a TKO, and not a KO, and taking Emanuel's own statement above into account, we can deduce that this too was a corner or referee stoppage.
