I dont believe in the p4p list. its gay!!! all I care about is the P4P #1 guy, none of that **** like P4P number 6,7,8 etc
pac vs mayweather is the only real p4p no1 match up i certainly want to see. it will be interesting the call if hatton beats pac, but he doesnt deserve to be no1 imo. back to the first comment yes i agree, p4p's are far too talked about in boxing today, pure fantasy, its stupid
I get your point.......Personally I don't think there's 10 fighters worthy of being P4P worthy....... It should actually read "FIGHTERS WORTHY OF P4P CONSIDERATION" Case in point, Vic Darchanian is a TOUGH SOB, love him as a fighter, but it's NO WAY he is an elite P4P fighter. He is an awkward CRUDE fighter who got ****ED up when he stepped up in competition.
but who are your 10 best fighters in the world? actually scratch that, who are the 5 best fighters in the world?
Yeah I know what ya mean. Literally as soon as a fighter gets a decent win in impressive fashion, whether the opponent is that great or not there are people saying 'so where do you rate him now p4p?'. Admittedly its become a bit of a merry go round lately with the whole Mosley-Cotto-Margo triangle with PW thrown in there as well. It genuinely has become very difficult to rank fighters properly. I think a better, more accurate way of doing it is to rank fighters in tiers. So you'd get something like Pac, JMM, Bhop Mosley, Cotto, PW, Vazquez, Rafa Etc.
I would have to say 1. Manny Pacquaio 2. JMM 3. Joe Calzaghe (not giving up hope YET) 4. Floyd Mayweather (see Joe Calzaghe) 5. BHOP (call me crazy, but the man has lost 3 time this DECADE and ONLY in the Calzaghe fight did I see him fighting at a pace he didn't want to) I don't think anyone else really matters.......... For instance, Ricky lost his biggest battle, YET IMHO, if he can beat Manny, he jumps back into the discussion.
Jesus Christ...some of you guys are ridiculous. ESB forums is a no win situation...If a fighter wins against a great opponent, you give them no consideration. If a fighter loses you call them shot, career cut short or w/e else excuse you may have. This is the reason why I don't believe in P4P rankings. Boxing has way too many belts as well IMO. they should have ONE belt for each weight class and not this WBO, WBC, WBA, IBF bla bla bla bull****.
atschatschatschatschatschatsch NO, NO, NO, NO, I apologize, I wasn't doing that in order...........wewwwwwwwww had to get that straight...atsch I may add Cotto in place of BHOP due to the fact that the guy who beat Cotto, MAY have been wearing plaster. Much respect to your list:good
i agree, freddy. i think it has more to do with wanting to be part of the moment. "hey i was the first to recognize that this kid was going straight to the top" kind of thing. remember khan, mijares etc... i get caught up in the hype sometimes but for the most part i like for the fighter to prove themselves against the top shelf fighters first. sometimes the difference in class between a, b and c is really big so a b class fighter will look phenomenal against a c class fighter but when pitted aginst the best his defficiencies become apparent. too many factors such as strength of opposition, styles, timing of tests and level of hype can make a fighter bigger than his talent deserves. ill let time tell the real story.
Another thing is that a fighter should not be ranked solely on the basis of a win or two against good opposition. This is boxing, better fighters can and do lose to inferior opponents skill/talent wise. Froch is a good example. Beating Taylor dont make him elite, even if he beat an elite fighter, in my eyes anyway. Just dangerous.
