you didn't mention a couple of things. After Oscar and before Cotto, Pac fought Hatton and weighed in 138. Mosley's previous fight was against Margarito where he tipped the scales at 147 on the dot. That's a 9 pound difference at the official scales. Pac was just 3 pounds above lightweight. And Roach clearly said in his interview that Mosley told him he could not get down to a catchweight. Then after Pac vs Cotto is announced, Mosley says he will fight Pac at 140. Clearly, Mosley cannot make 140 anyways, so it's a meaningless statement.

Even in 2006 after Shane's fight with Vargas II, PBF's handlers actually made an OFFER to Shane to fight. That was a real offer, it wasn't in the form of a contract because they never negotiated. But his handlers who make the decisions on his fights contacted Shane's people and HBO. It was a real offer in 2006. The other offer when he was at 130lb was NOT legit, just a fighter talking. And pac's claim that he was accepting the challenge is just the same. THE FACT IS UNLIKE ARMSTRONG, DURAN, and MOSLEY........Pac has TIPPY TOED HIS WAY UP IN WEIGHT. Whereas the others listed jumped up in weight and fought the TOP GUY. Now nothing illegal, immoral, or unfair about what Pac did, but it isn't as NOTEWORTHY as what the HOF's I listed did.
yes but before pac wouldnt fight shane any higher than 143, then signs to fight cotto at 145. it aint a duck because cotto was equally as tough a fight, some would argue it was even tougher than a shane fight. but it is fair to say they didn't want the mosley fight.
Pac wanted to fight Cotto at 143 too. In the end they accepted Cotto's request of 145. If Mosley was with Top Rank and Cotto with Golden Boy, we probably would've seen Pac vs Mosley instead of Pac vs Cotto. That's the truth about it. Roach said they were extremely interested in a Mosley fight. Not at 147 though, but at a catchweight, preferably at 142-143 but they probably would've been willing to compromise.
You use the relationship between golden boy and top rank as an excuse for the fight not getting made previously. So when floyd didn't fight clottey,margarito and cotto, do you accept that a big reason was between floyd relationship with Arum or Top Rank? I'm just curious.
I never said Floyd ducked Clottey, Margo, or Cotto. Not once. Something interesting though. At the end of the day Pac will have fought Mosley, Margo, Cotto, and Clottey Cotto will have fought Mosley, Margo, Pac, and Clottey Margo will have fought Cotto, Mosley, Pac, and Clottey Clottey will have fought Cotto, Pac, and Margo. Floyd fought Mosley I've never said Floyd ducked anyone, but give Pac his credit.
FYI..Margo and Floyd were with Arum when Arum started trying to make this fight. I wouldn't be surprised if it's one of the reason Floyd left.

Cotto was coming off a devastating loss as well as a horrible performance against Clottey. Mosley was the #3 P4P in the world. Let's not act like Cotto has had a good performance against a B class fighter or above since Mosley in 07 (which was a close fight). I would say, and if everyone who posted on this site was consistent would say, that Cotto was more the damaged goods leading into the Pacquiao fight than Mosley was 6+ months after the "proposed deal with Pac" leading into the Mayweather fight. Now, obviously, everyone can and will interpret how they'd like and how it makes their favorite fighter look.

Come on, post-Mosley Margarito was never a top 200 P4Per and Clottey, yeah he's a top 10 welter and has been for a little while, but there is no way in hell you can put him with Pac, Floyd, Cotto, and Mosley.
