Only one small problem with your master theory...what if Pac turned around and said that he would agree to completely random testing up to 20 minutes befopre the first bell, Mayweather would have absolutely nowhere to go. PBF has nothing to fear from fighting Pac.

8.) 84-6 as an Amateur
9) One of the greatest defensive fighters of all time
10) Beat two undefeated world champions (Hatton, Coralles)

he is top 25 without Pacquiao.

It seems that because someone fought every six weeks they were automatically better - ignoring the fact that training camps were shorter, negotiations were probably easier and a whole load of other factors.

Sports move on, football has, rugby has, cricket has - it's time boxing fans did the same.

thats jsut bull****. Amateur achievments to count. how can not having a loss for 16 years and 41 fights not be a problem especially when you have faced consistentley higher level of opposition than anyone else in your time.

name me 5 fighters in the last 25 years that rank ahead of him in the past 20 years and I can tell you why Mayweather is better.

 

Ok but there are factors to take into account that only affect boxing.

There used to be 1 champ per division (or at least when there was 2 it was acceptable), there used to be less divisions, the sport used to be more popular so you got a greater selection of talent, etc.

People say that guys are better today because they have improved training and diet. Well that doesn't mean they should rank higher than the guys in the past.

At times in the past top guys were less likely to duck each other (Like La Motta facing SRR in his first defense), although sometimes it was worse than today of course.

You gotta judge each guy on his merits.

I'am actually a big admirer of Floyd Mayweather as a boxer but i just don't think he's that great, good but not great + i always tend to look at the business angle's 1st rather than adopting your fan-boy approach & as i pointed out in an earlier post IMO Mayweather will never ever fight Pacquiao as it's just to much of a financial risk & as you say "Floyd would make a fool out of Pac if they fought" then what is the hold up!!!

You & many others may be confident in a Mayweather victory but it don't appear any of the Mayweather clan are:deal

There are legitimate reasons in boxing why a lot of people rate fighters from yesteryear higher, it's not just romanticizing the past.
