The one who tends to get overlooked by (for want of a better word) "modern" boxing fans is Saldivar.

A quality fighter. I think he'd beat seven shades of **** out of a lot of 'great' feathers.

He vs Sanchez Is an awe-inspring clash IMO, as is sanchez vs Pedroza.

ok lets take the best wins of Hopkins and Jones.

    Hopkins

    Glen Johnson - Fantastic win
Felix Trinidad - A blown up welterweight
Oscar De La Hoya - another blown up Welterweight
    Antonio Tarver - Fantastic win
Winky Wright - A 154-160lbs fighter at his best, fought Hopkins at 170lbs
Kelly Pavlik - A middleweight, fought Hopkins at 170lbs

Jones Jnr - Drug Cheat so I count none of his resume but...

    Bernard Hopkins - Fantastic win
    James Toney - Fantastic win
Mike McCallum - Best days were behind him, coming off a loss
John Ruiz - Fantastic win at Heavyweight but Ruiz was an alphabet champ
Tarver - Disputed decision, he lost 2 rematches

    Mayweather Jnr

Genaro Hernandez - Sold champion with 5 title defences, Mayweather beat him 2 years after turning pro to win his world title. went on to defend it 9 times
Diego Corales - Undefeated, Huge Punching for the lineal title. Coreles may have been strugling at the weight buts its a fantastic win
Jose Luis Castillo - Struggled in the first fight, but gave him an imediate re-match to beat a prime Castillo
Arturo Gatti - One of the most punch perfect executions of boxing you will ever see.
Zab Judah - Forget the loss to Baldomir Judah is a classy operator but Floyd ring smarts won him the battle
Oscar De La Hoya - Beats Oscar agaisnt all the odds at light middleweight to get a 5th world title
Shane Mosley - Despite winning a world title and light middle and the lineal title at welterweight, Mayweather takes apart the other great Welterweight of the era

    Dan, it can be done.

Rob, you're making wins of Mayweathers to be quality when they weren't. And Trinidad was heavily favoured, and coming off of decimating Joppy when Hopkins put on the kinda' clinic that everyone makes out Floyd can only do. It trumps all of Floyds winsIMO.

I respect your opinion on Jones: it's a marmite issue due to the fact it's hard to guage exactly when he used/whether he would've prospered with/without whatever he was using.

I'm wrecked: excuse the puddle above.

Either way, Floyd is nowhere near cracking the top 25. Neither Jones nor B-Hop crack my top 40.

    OPPOSITION :deal

It is of course all opinion. Debating who is 'greater' is in truth, a completely pointless exercise, but it can be fun :good

Of course it can but I could quite easily pick holes in it. It's irrelevant, however Ice knew I was messing when I said Barrera but his blind hatred for them man who destroyed his 'fantasy gay partner' gets the better of him at times

Oh, and not only is Gatti not one pf the most punch perfect displays I've ever seen (because I've seen fighters punch perfect or nigh on against ELITE OPPOSITION) including it as one of Floyds resume plus points, whilst saying Trinidad was a blown-up Welter reeks of personal bias.

As much as I hate Floyd the man, I try to be objective when measuring one fighters ring record against anothers. Otherwise it's like cheating yourself :yep

'fantasy gay' :rofl Naz was not at his peak when Barrera beat him. The fact e did it so well elevates him in my regards, and what with him getting the better of Morales in teir trilogy (IMO) sees him as one of the ATG's of boxing, let alone Mexicans.

    Great comp.

    Success in higher weights.

    Great ability.

    Quality fighter.

But no Khaokor Galaxy :deal

I have him that high too.

But Canto, Kid Azteca, Baby Arizmendi, Carlos Zarate, and of course, Morales and Marquez (especially if you feel he gets credit for oppo in defeat, Pac, and how well you saw him doing in those fights, I personally gave JMM the 2nd fight 115-112) can have a case made for them.
