Predicted $650k+ so that's very good, the fight didn't even have a 24/7 nor enough advertising or a proper undercard so this was sold based on Pac's name and only his name. Great news.
honestly, I think the only reason *****s and *******s are so obsessed with defending the PPV numbers of their fighters is because outside of the drug testing, the main issue during fight negotiations (should they happen again) will be the purse split. If the fight doesn't push through because of the purse split, the fans of the fighter with better PPV numbers will (in their twisted little minds) will find that as enough reason to say that the other fighter was ducking theirs. It's all pretty silly but that's how it goes here...
Didn't think they would top a million. Still a great number. Just goes to show how big emmanuel pacman's hype is.
As I said earlier in the other thread, this goes to show that pacquiao isn't really that big in the US.
good numbers, but not good enough to get 50/50 with floyd. Especially if he does 1.75m ppv buys which is what i expect. I dont think this fight will ever happen.
lol, 700k ppv buys and a big live gate shows he's not that big in the US? Do one, mate. Look up the history of ppv numbers and see what former ppv stars were able to achieve when fighting unmarketable guys like Clottey. 700k buys is more than respectable.
I know but I was expecting at least a million hit and this is in relation to the impending negotiation with team mayweather. This number just strengthen my suspicion that pac-maywethaer fight is a goner.
IF they can agree on the testing, I think the fight will be made and at a 50/50 split. I happen to believe that Mayweather-Mosley will do roughly what Pac's fight with Cotto did. ......so you're going to have comparable numbers against comparable grade fighters. The only way that this fight does'nt get made because of the financial split, is if Mayweather-Mosley blows away the numbers of Pac-Cotto.......then Mayweather will have every right ot demand a better share.
To whoever believes that 24/7 show doesn't help "at all", is either lying to himself or ignorant on the laws of marketing.
It doesn't help certain fighters. If it's a match up not many people want to see. 24/7 wont do ****. Example Jones-Calzaghe
No. Don't confuse bad from worst, they're different. That fight did bad with marketing (i.e. 24/7) in it, it will do worst without marketing.
It sounds a good number considering Clottey is not a ppv attraction. I have no doubt Mayweather Mosley will do more as it's a much more interesting fight, but I wouldn't be so quick to hail Floyd as the undisputed king of ppv boxing just yet. The number for his fight with Marquez was very good as he was returning from a long absence and absence makes the heart grow fonder, but I bet alot of those million subscribers were not happy with the fight the payed for and won't be so quick to pay again. Plus they've got no draw to the hispanic market and that's a big chunk of American boxing fans right there.
I have no doubt FMJ/Mosley will atleat do 1.4M (double), but it doesn't mean 700k for this Clottey fight isn't good. FMJ did a million against Marquez, an established Mosley who's last fight was quite explosive "should atleast" generate 400k more.
