Numbers honestly suck.... they should have never did this fight... if it comes time to fight floyd you already know what hes going to be saying.... especially after floyd does like 1.8 with shane
Somebody loss some serious money ...starts with an A and ends with the sound of rum. It takes two fighters to see tickets ...and by way what happen to all the asian viewers Pac claims to have ...700,000 is that all who paid to watch that ****.
As far as opponents go, both Clottey and Baldomir are on the same level as far as popularity. If anything, Baldomir was more popular.
Solid number but bad news for any negotiations going forward because Floyd did 1 million with JMM and you know Floyd/Shane is going to do at least 1.75 million. If they do just that and Floyd wins, he will demand one of the following scenarios: 60/40 and testing to 24 days out, 55/45 and testing to 14 days out. If he does the 2.5-3 million Schaefer was saying the fight could do and wins then PAC will have no choice but to take 60/40 and testing all the way if he really wants the fight.
No the valid comparison is Floyd versus JMM. Since both guys fought people who are not well know outside boxing circle with little or no fanbases. Remember JMM fight and casamayor only did 100K on ppv.
Not really b/c Floyd's stock jumped up 10 fold AFTER DLH. A valid comparison would be Floyd vs Josh. With the same marketing for the fight and venue....how much do you think Floyd's PPV would generate with Josh. I think they'd be fairly similar. Manny and Floyd are top draws...who's the bigger draw is very questionable given the big numbers they are putting up.
A good measuring stick would be Floyd fighting someone like Quintana, then compare the #'s to Pac vs Clottey. U cant expect Pac/Clottey to come close to Floyd/Mosley. Pac carried that card all by himself with very little promotion, no 24/7, no quality undercard, no fanbase from Clottey. Given that, 700k is damn good!
Arum was expecting alot more, but I said from the beggining that anything over 500K should be considered a success. 700K for Clottey is exellent. If HBO had'nt made the announcement, I would not have believed it coming from just Bob Arum.
You guys can't really be that thick. That would be like comparing Mayweather/JMM and the 1 million buys to the last Pacquiao vs Morales fight and their 400k buys. Get it?
There really was no promotion for this fight. Not here on the east coast at least. Maybe in Texas. I did not see 1 commercial, 1 poster, nothing. Just some bull**** special called "the road to Dallas" which focused more on the stadium than the actual fight.
