:rofl Don't be silly.... Golden Boy would NEVER go this route if they thought they'd win. These actions from Golden Boy should be commended for a number of reasons.... but the #1 reason is simple. They were wrong, they knew it and it took the acknowledgment of knowing they'd lose in a very public court case to prompt the very public and embarrassing apology. PAC's ability to make millions and to become a global icon has nothing to do with the accusations Floyd and GBP spread. That was all Manny and his team's work and dedication to carve out this path to Manny's legacy. The accusations are more less an necessary "black mark" that blemishes his reputation and casts a shadow of suspicion for those who hear the rumors and take them at face value without doing any research to verify... Damage has been done without question but given the source and the actions of the one who started the rumors a lot of the potential damage has been defused.
Problem is that nobody ever said Pac was using PEDs. So there is no "egg on the face". Only thing people said was it was "strange". The fact that he is breaking records is proof unto itself. These business men "apologized" for financial reasons, no more, no less. They had nothing to lose because nothing was said. The specter of testing still looms large over any
This is GBP vs Pac, not GBP vs TR. There is some benefit to apologizing to TR, but this is GBP submitting to Pacquiao's will. They knew they were going to lose this case, so they had to settle. Because of the terms, we don't know if Pac won some monetary damages, but you better believe that he didn't hire a lawyer to defend himself. GBP at the very least, paid for Pac's lawyer fees. This is not Pac dropping his case. This is GBP settling to avoid paying more.
If you don't think it's embarrassing for Golden Boy to have to back track, apologize and admit they're wrong then you are a damn lie. Any man having to admit their wrong is embarrassing. Broadcast it to every major media outlet and publicy have to prepare a WRITTEN apology and you have the purest example of what the phrase "egg on face" means. There is a financial aspect that HELPED them come to this form of resolution but the apology was FORCED! By threat of legal repercussions that Golden Boy wanted no parts of. Losing to anther fighter under anther promotional banner is one thing....losing a high profile and very public legal battle is anther.
Embarrassing doesn't matter in business. Nobody said they were wrong. They said they apologize if Pac took it that way and that they didn't mean he did anything. Mayweather hasn't said that either. So the apology was silly. Same way you say sorry to a chick because you want to smash again. You show me where ANYONE in an official capacity from Golden Boy said Pac was on drugs? Then you can say that the apology was anything more than a business decision.
The suggestion that Pac is merely accepting an apology to get business done is laughable. There are losers in this case, and it's Golden Boy. Pac had these guys by the balls and the reason why there was even a settlement was because someone knew they couldn't win this case...and in this case, it's Golden Boy.
Now he is too good to be true. Now he is breaking records. Now he can't possible do that without the help of enhancement drugs. I thought he cherrypicked his way up? :huh :hi:
An accusation so laughable that there is no way in court you can prove that it was harmful. Pac doesn't have a leg to stand on in that silly case. The GBP representatives who "apologized" had nothing to "apologize" for. And RM didn't apologize. If anything they were leaving Mayweather hanging because they need to make more fights and they can't seem to get FMJ to fight in the meantime. Like any businessman, they are cutting their losses and moving on.
You can't see how you can cherry pick and use drugs? :think I bet you have trouble chewing gum and walking at the same time too huh? :hey
No fool. GBP is issuing an apology and Top Rank/Pac is accepting it to get business done. You don't drop a case worth that much money for an apology. It is much easier and profitable to win a "slam dunk" case (as you describe it) in court and not promote a fight. Nobody drops a legit slam dunk multi-million dollar lawsuit for an apology. Nobody.
You posting a "joke" about an unfortunate mentally handicapped person isn't an new low for you though. It fits your character perfectly. :thumbsup
