I think Pac will carry the weight better and will win convincingly this time. But it's a good fight. The rivalry, the fact Marquez still has the style to offset Pac more than most, and the fact there really isn't anyone else established oout there that will make bucks. Pac isn't going to enhance his legacy any more, unless he fights Martinez or Floyd. Neither of those fights is happening, JMM-Pac III will make both good ol' boys more wonga, will give the series some closure (most probably ;-)) and will suffice as another fight where both men wind down their careers. Ortiz would fare less well than Marquez IMO. He'd get smashed to **** I reckon.
Emanuel Steward said before the 2nd fight that he reckons there's between five and seven pounds of natural difference in their body weight. That's pretty accurate based on their ring weights for the 2nd fight (141 & 145) and also recent fights where Marquez has been in the low 140's and Pacquiao slightly higher. Pacquiao is just good enough to whip the welterweights that he's faced..... and the 140lb class isn't exactly stacked with names that can line his pockets. Would I rather see the Mayweather fight? If you'd asked me a year ago I'd have said yes, but Floyd has gone into hiding and in addition to spurious claims of steroid abuse has started beating up security guards and women. Marquez has kept his name in the hat, and after the pathetic showing by Shane following pretty lame fights with Clottey and Margarito..... they maybe feel it's time to make an interesting fight. Marquez knows Pacquiao's style, he's experienced, obviously a high class fighter..... and deserves the 3rd fight which he should have had immediately after the BS decision 2nd time around. Mayweather has essentially been a part time fighter for the past four years, and has shown little interest in facing a quality welterweight close to their prime since he moved up..... Pacquiao's slate is far superior both below and at 147. You're a good guy Teeto, but we'll have to agree to disagree on this issue.
Flea, it doesn't matter if Ortiz would do better or worse. Ortiz is a valid fight at welter, this is bull****. The man has no business at welter and that is just that. I mean, I don't know how many times I have to say it. I'm talking about relevance to the current boxing scene, Pac's last two fights have been bogus in that regard and now he's doing it again. I'm a purist, you know me well. This is bull****. Everybody kicked off at Floyd for fighting the light weight champ and most notably the media, in the ring right after the fight, watch them do the exact opposite to Pacquiao. Everybody is on the man's ****, I love him, I love what he has done for me as a fan, but I'm a purist and this is ****ing bull manure.
Pac 100% winds for me , I have it marquez and Pac 1-1 each so far, so this fight would decide but at 147 it means **** all to me, 140 is ideal as its a meeting ground between fighting weights and a weight both will look healthy and strong at. Flea I love JMM but he simply has no power at 147, he's the real deal no doubt but not at 147, Pac should 'drop down' and make the fight at 140 to make sure the fight is an even keel, at least he knows in himself he beat the real JMM not a blown up one...
if you would rather see this fight than Pac-Mayweather, then yes, we surely will have to agree to disagree. Like I saId, I like eberyone here, it's not an issue about that, I just have to speak out when something strikes me like this
Pac will be in far better position for JMMs shots than Floyd was. JMM will retain his accuracy, his timing might be a bit off due to being heavier, or at least he'll be a bit slower. But Pac isn't going to roll with the punches, implement much lateral movement. And you can count on one hand the amount of fighters with balls the size of Marquez. Entertaining blend of mid-range technical affair/tear up with Pac overwhelming the master technician, whos legs have looked to be nearing the end in recent fights IMO. Marquez will take an offensive stance with Pac who will be stronger and take him out late. Marquez will do better than either Cotto or Toni though I reckon.
Marquez will surely do better than Cotto. Marquez has a chance to win it definitely. That's never been my point though man and you know it's not. ****ing fight is bogus
I agree it'll be better and more competitive cos JMM is posiblky in top10 p4p for last 10 years!!! but at this weight it means noting cos JMM wont be the real version that took Pac to life and death in that ring. It'll be an anti-climax to the trilogy's ending i had hoped for...
I just want to get it right so I know. Pac can do what he wants and take bull**** fights (from a rankings and purist's perspective) because he is exciting and the fights will always be entertaining. Is that what it is? I have no problem watching this fight, I will enjoy it, as I said, I am a sucker for boxing because I love it, when it shits on me like this I still rub that **** in, all over. But **** me, we need to understand that Pac is being a total **** with his fights in terms of actual relevance in 'current' terms. I'm not of the opinion he can just **** around because he has already achieved greatness. He is a champion and relevant and therefore he gets treated the same as everybody else
I tend not to think about the belts nowadays Teeto. For me, this is like countless top notch fights where the weight was agreed on away from the usual parameters. It's a 'event fight', it's a fight I really wanna' see, yeah I'd prefer it to be at 140 but it wouldn't make any difference. Is a JMM win here any less relevant? I don't think Floyd is all that interested in fighting again, and have just got that fight out of my head. That way, if it ever does happen, I'll be genuinely surprised, thrilled and excited! :good
I agree mate, but the difference between the 2 is that that Pac has answered every call out so far wheras Flloyd has hid, that has tainted his legcay no doubt. I do understand your point about Pac bias and my statement will possibly sump up the reasons why fans hat Floyd and have bias. Your right to shout fire when you see smoke! for me as you say, pac come down and meet jmm at a reasonable weight rather than watch him bloat and plot around at 147 again...
I just can't think like this my friend. I'm shocked man. For me it's a farce. I'm not talking about the belts, I'm talking about boxing, how it is structured and always will be, within divisions. This is three bull**** fights in the trot for Pacquiao. Anyway, it will definitely be an actual great fight when it happens. Haye had a joke fight agaist Audley, but it's no issue because it's Wlad right after, I'm not an insane purist to an obsessive degree. But Pac is ****ing me over time and again now. Him and Foyd have both really kinda ****in broke my heart in very recent times, I hate the two of them. Although in years to come I will obviously love their careers, and I have loved their careers as they unfolded, but recently, ****ing jokers both of them. They should just retire if they're not contributing to active boxing rankings or super fights.
