True, but it's not the better fight. GGG/Canelo Ward/Kovalev Both fights are MUCH better than Floyd/Pac.
We know that, but it won't do a fraction of the first fight in terms of buys. Probably do a mill, but no more. People remember how shocking that first fight was. It was terrible.
I agree with the article, but it won't do over a million. Both are older Floyd's "risks" stop as soon as he enters the ring Manny is much slower than their first encounter That fight left a bad taste in peoples mouths The rise of the exciting fighters like GGG and Loma is what people wanna see
Not arguing with you. I can see your point. I just thought it remains to be seen. 1 million can be easily hit just between Floyd haters and Manny's countrymen. 2 Mil maybe not.
manny's purse is only $4mil for the vargas fight then less $1mil for the tickets he bought out of his own pocket to give his supporters
Yep, the only plausible big-name fighters Floyd is losing to if he comes back are Canelo and GGG in my opinion.
Full disclosure, I'm a Pac fan. I have no interest in this fight. In fact before the first one, I predicted Mayweather would run and just do enough to outpoint Pac. While that was/is a smart gameplan, it doesn't do much for the fans. So I pass.
Sure, put it on free tv and we will all watch. Otherwise I have better things to do with my money, like flush it down the toilet which is how I felt after the first fight.
It definetly deserves to be on PPV, but it can't be $100 like last time. It should be like $79.99 or something (for HD version). I think $79.99 is fair, more than your average PPV but not approaching $100. I could see it being $89.99 or something since it's basically a dual promotion with TR and TMT, but $99.99 is just freakin ridiculous, especially after their last fight. I think it deserves to be more than just $64.99 due to how high of a demand for the fight. If it happened, I don't know if they'd do another split HBO / Showtime stuff again since Floyd's 6-fight contract with Showtime already run out. I doubt Floyd would fight on a TR-only PPV telecast like we saw this weekend with Manny - Vargas, but maybe he'd agree to a HBO PPV, with Bernstein from Showtime being allowed to cover the weigh-in and pre-fight stuff or something. The problem with the first fight was the price tag, Manny having an injury, and Floyd being severely dehydrated. The fight should be commentated by Jim Lampley and Roy Jones Jr, and Stephen A Smith can't be allowed within 50 feet of the commentary booth.
We agree about Stephen A Smith LOL There are other fights I would rather pay for than this. The fight will probably play out the same. Floyd won't change his spots. Manny is not the aggressor he used to be at his age. Hard to support what is obviously milking the fans out of their money.
