Back in 98, DLH-Trinidad was set to be scheduled just after Oscar won over Quartey and showing the world that he is capable of beating young, strong welterweights, and Trinidad who became the first man to beat Whitaker easily.

However, similar to Floyd asking for ridiculous drug tests, Tito back then is insisting on purse parity which seems to scuttle the fight.

Both men went on to have dominating wins, DLH and Tito both KO'd Oba Carr and Hugo Pineda respectively. Finally, both Arum and Don King worked their way on having the fight made.

A fight this good and anticipated will happen, there will be just a few arm twisting and we'll probably see these two in the ring by September.

Or alternately WaPakMan retires into politics and never fights Mayweather.

OM I dont recall that happening that way at all. I think that you confuse the attempt at a rematch with the actaul fight. Oscar vs Ike happened in 1999 as did Oscar vs Tito. I remember because my brother and I was at the Oscar Quartey fight.

As far as the fights in between, they were actaully planed that both would have the tune-up fights. It wasnt because of any problems making the fight.

The Mayweather Pac fight didnt have a chance in hell because they didnt want to fight Floyd PERIOD. But they just couldnt come out and say, we dont want to fight NOW, even thou they tried. When Roach said it wasnt enough time to gameplan for a fight with Floyd.

Whats going to be odd is when Pac agrees to the testing later in the year. Its going to be interesting in hearing how *******s will defend that.

I thought you were serious about DLH/Trinidad happening again. That would be terrible. Oscar and Tito are not in prime and elite anymore. It would not be worth it. It would be like Hearns and Leonard fighting again. A win for either one would not matter much, it would be the guy who stayed sharper and in shape more. Means nothing.
