I'm sorry...I didn't mean to "dodge" your question. I didn't see one to be honest. PAC faught Lebawah to prep himself. But you missed the KEY point to the differences between ED V. and Manny P. Both men have POWER! No question....Ed even moreso than PAC. But in terms of TALENT LEVEL! PAC is operating with FAAAAAR More which is why with his LIMITED Skill set at the time of MAB, EM and JMM he was still able to beat, compete and DOMINATE! So sorry about the missed question but I hope this sheds a bit of light on my logic.
Btw.....Lebewah was a very dangerous and proven fighter at that time. PAC was a HUGE underdog who had been working under roach for a year or so.
Of course. ...but the point being that at least, Pac will have his full way with purses and percentages---Aaand the 'egotistical' and 'sick' satisfaction that he did it his way openly defying and without bending to a spoiled white man (who are used to having their way with the rest of the world) anymore. :good (Not to mention the added incentive of having one of 'em "worthless" shiny trinkets to decorate his already filled-up walls). :yep
There are certainly differences between sparring and real fights but Valero at least shows that he can box very well if he wants to. Throwing him in against overmatched opponents and promising a $100K first round knockout bonus will lead anyone to fight recklessly especially when your whole purse is probably smaller than the knockout bonus. If or when he steps into the ring against Pacquiao you can be sure Valero won't be gunning for a 1st round knockout. He'll be much more patient like he is during sparring against good opponents. The only reason he got caught by Mosquera was because he thought Mos had nothing after flooring the guy twice in the first like I mentioned before. When he got floored himself it was a wake up call that Mosquera was tougher than expected initially. He immediately switched up to more boxing and picking his shots. Mosquera showed incredible toughness that night and has not boxed since which shows you how much damage Valero can inflict even if you have heart and don't go down right away. No doubt here that Pacquiao should be favored because of his extensive experience against elite fighters. I just see Valero as a younger version of Pacquiao with more power and boxing ability albeit still a little raw due to mainly inexperience with the best opponents. I also agree with you that the fight won't make it to a decision because Valero will surprise Pac with his boxing ability and knock Manny out in a stunner.
Bad choice for Pac ... Valero isn't as accomplished ... is very live ... and can possibly upset Pacquiao ... win or lose its not a good choice for Pac. Valero would have to have a few fights on HBO before he has a shot at Pac ... its definitely not a PPV fight. Valero by late rounds TKO
Bold prediction! And I'm not one to argue a point that is based on emotion rather than logic! I've done so myself in the past with VERY LIMITED success! But this is boxing and anything can happen...even against the odds. But these odds would be stacked very high against Ed. I also see a surprise but at Valero's expense being caught! I see great things from Valero in the future but IMO PAC is on anther level at this point. The upside for Edwin is substantial given his ability and especially that KO power. He just needs a bit more polishing and experinece. And PAC is a good way to get that ELITE level experience ED is in need of. But there are easier less risky routes for this young champion to take which will allow him to keep that nice shiny "0". But I'm for this fight 100%. 1 loss may make him better!
I agree that the odds will be stacked against him and he would do well to get another couple fights against top guys like Casamayor and JMM who are older but still respectable but if the chance arises you have to take it. No one expects him to win so he really has nothing to lose and everything to gain, agree? I normally don't care for one punch knockout artists but I just see some intangibles in Valero that I think will lead to a very good career similar to how I felt about Margarito years back. I think too many people are making assumptions about what Valero will do when paired up against elite competition. They think he will just rush in head first and throw wild shots. I happen to be in the camp that thinks he will step up his game when matched with such dangerous opponents and fight more like he does in sparring rather then gunning for 1st round KOs against weak opposition. Roach has stated that Pac will take Valero out in 2 rounds. Let's see if it happens that way.
and Hatton could have taken the 40% split against Pac and would have made more money than he will against any other opponent. Pac vs Valero is an ok fight, but its more of a tuneup than a real challenge.
It would be a good win for Pac to get respect from the fools who still question his resume and how it supposedly lacks prime fighters. I however am of the belief that the fight would prove to be anticlimactic and Pac would smoke Valero inside of 6 rounds. I really hope the Hatton fight gets revisted and Pac comes to terms.
The flaw in your argument is that it's not true. Apart from anything else, the fact that Hatton already made more money against another opponent kinda make it obvious that its not true...
When Pac fights Valero, I'll give Pac his true respect. Until then, Pac is a greedy, oldman fighting, overrated, gifted, imitation great fighter.
