Top Dog - **** off, its my decision isn't it ? I'm not a judge/referee or anything so I believe I am well within my rights to score it for Cotto. My card is irrelevant anyway considering it didn't go to the cards :good
I think it's more interesting to look how competitive Cotto was with Pac early on, until that brutal KD in the fourth. That was a true fight-changing shot. Pac took his time engaging, so I get the feeling Cotto had stung him more than we thought and he needed a little time to regroup. Which he did by beating the living **** out of Cotto for three rounds on the trot, before Cotto sorted himself out in the 10th. But I'm not going to watch the fight again. It was depressing to watch Cotto get manhandled like that.
It was, and it wasn't. i.e. I know what you mean, but I think the fight was running away from Cotto anyway. The second KD, he was plain reckless, tantamount to what Hatton did. You cannot give Pacquiao free reign to land that left on you.
Absolutely spot on.I'm taking nothing away from Pacquiao he was excellent, but Cotto seemed to start flagging after the 2nd round, and as soon as he realised he couldn't bully Pacquiao it was just a matter of time.I'm pretty sure Cotto knew he couldn't win the fight after the first knockdown. After watching Cotto snapping Pacs head back with his jab in the 1st round i thought Pacs time was up,but as soon as Pac landed the first clean punch the fight turned. Was pretty sad watching Cotto in the later rounds.I thought he'd got his MOJO back, but he's clearly not the fighter he was,i think he should hang em up now.
It really is terrible that Cotto had his career finished by a cheating **** like Margarito. Not detracting from a very polished performance from Pacquiao but Cotto was a shadow of his former self. Given the quality of Pacquiaos performance its hard to say wha the Cotto of old would have done against him but it certainly wouldnn't have been so horribly painful to watch
I had the exact same scorecard as Duane Ford: Rounds one and ten to Cotto, all the others to Pacquiao, 10-8 in three and four.
cotto got battered from round 3 to 9,battered. 10 and 11,pac put his feet on the brakes while cotto ran around the ring (you would of thought he had valuev in front of him,not a 10stone,smallish bloke)like speedy gon zarlis:nut,
I gave Cotto the first. I think I gave him the 8th and a share of the 5th. Can't remember the rounds exactly. I had it something like 8-2-1 and that's the best I could give cotto.
Do you think he just got carried away with Pac on the ropes? He should have known that Pac was eventually going to throw something, just to keep him off. It was reckless and, with a better plan, he'd have known to land in twos and threes, then get some distance and bring Pac on. he wasted a great opportunity.
2nd knockdown was crucial-Cotto was winnin the round got overconfident and practically ran on to punch.Had he boxed a smarter fight he might have been able to take this to a reasonably close decision.
