That's good too...now that I think about it tho Yankee Stadium would be the best in terms of making the fight significant. All the greats from Joe Louis to Ali fought there, it's time a mega fight makes a mark in our era.
A Pacquiao-Mayweather fight will be the biggest of the year in 2010, but getting a ticket to see it live may not be as difficult as youd think. Thats because major stadiums from around the country are desperate to host the fight. Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum has already heard from officials at the New Orleans Superdome, Dallas Cowboys Stadium, Giants Stadium and Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, among others. Wynn Resorts in Las Vegas is reportedly willing to build a 30,000-seat outdoor stadium to host the fight. http://sports.yahoo.com/box/news;_y...?slug=ki-boxmailbag111709&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
Doesn't matter, ain't happening. If they can get a TV network to pay as much money as they would have made selling PPVs, then fine, they can have it in an outdoor stadium. But you can't have it as a PPV if there's a chance that the weather could delay the fight. And for the record, NO fights have ever been held at Yankee Stadium, only only Yankee Stadium.
I like Pac more and more everyday he just know how to do and say the right things that go a long way with fans.
Yeah, I meant to say "only old" Yankee Stadium, not "only only" Yankee Stadium. But with the new stadium, it just doesn't have the same historical significance, and they've already torn the seats out of the old stadium.
Arum has already nixed the idea. New York’s tax structure is just too ridiculous. But he is looking at Cowboy's Stadium, the Louisiana Superdome or building a temporary stadium in Las Vegas. This content is protected
if they could bring boxing back to Yankee Stadium and the fight being Pac vs Mayweather...that would be insane
this is still my personal preference, but only b/c I could attend and it would make it a HUGE event. Everyone would be there, especially if they get some good latino's on the undercard. Texans would go nuts for that.
Don't get your hopes up. Casinos usually get the biggest fights because they can afford a massive site fee. Ticket sales are only a portion of the money they make when there's a big fight. As much as I'd love to see this take place in a stadium, it's most likely a Vegas casino (MGM Grand).
It would be great if it were in Cowboys Stadium. It would be a closer drive for me. Plus, that place can hold at least 100 K. Imagine the atmosphere in that place. If that were the case, If I were Bob Arum, you have GOT to have an action packed card. Pacquiao-Mayweather Pavlik-Williams Lopez-Gamboa (or Caballero) and of course the real main event...Yuri Foreman vs Chavez Jr. LMAO
