He's pretty well known here since he whooped Hattons ass. Loads of my mates who aren't big boxing fans have been talking about the potential Pac v PBF fight, they're easily the two most well known non UK boxers.

Mayweather v Pacquiao will be big in the UK, both men are known for dismantling Hatton.

Aside from haye & Khan, he is probably the most well known boxer here along with mayweather. UK.

I think they only show Klitschko, Valuev and Abraham fights in Germany, so just because it wasn't shown doesn't really mean he's unknown.

No there are plenty of other fighters who get TV exposure and fight in Germany. But most of them at mw or above. ARD and ZDF show the Sauerland/Universum fightcards, RTL the K2 fights, DSF shows some cards regularly, there“s Eurosport. There are more like two dozen plus fighters getting TV exposure here. Boxing over here is bigger than in the states. But only for fighters fighting out of Germany or their opponents.

We had reports during the week before the fight in Bulgaria. I have seen some of his early fights on Scandinavian channel TV 1000. This channel, I beleive, is popular in Europe.

The thing is that I was not interested in Pacquiao early in his career when he was fighting at low weight divisions. Only recently I have grown on his careeer. In general I do not follow fights so closely below middleweights.

Of course Pacquiao is unknown among general audience in Bulgaria but so are professional boxers as a whole. Football players get all atention of the media.

If Europe had any decent fighter at that weight then Pacman would have knocked him out and all his fights would have been mentioned. Sadly they don't which is why Valuev is constantly in newspapers instead.

If there are any decent fighters below middleweight then they will be interested, it's just that there are none to mention.

pac man is well known in ireland

after the de la hoya and hatton fights he is known by your average person on the street

a good few of my mates who normally have no interest in boxing stayed up til 6 in the morning just to watch him fight the other night

also it was in most of the papers before and after the fight

It annoys me when people refer to "Europe" as being something, or not knowing something! Europe is a culturally, socially and economically diverse area and each country has about as much in common with eachother than as they do with Brazil!

He is well known in the UK, but he may not be well known in other parts of Europe.
Europe may be centralising its contorl politically, and becoming more federal in its legal systems, but the similarites between each nation state should not be confused with the similarites between US states. We cannot be recognised as one entity.

It will be massive over here. At my old job the lads were talking about it after Pac luckily beat Hatton. With the right build up and promotion it has potential to be one of the biggest fights ever.

I just hope this talk of it's got happen in March is bollocks. I'd like it be in May/June time. Let it build up nicely.

Mainland Europe doesn't have the massive Asian population that USA, UK, and Canada have. Could be why they are pretty oblivious to some Filipino kid making boxing history
