Pacman can fight whomever he wants. And he will be judged accordingly. He wants to get acclimated to the weight? Then fight a contender, and a good one. Not someone who barely beat (and may have lost to) a fighter you decisively KO'd two times just prior. If he wants to take the easier path, that's fine as well. Just no more bitching about Pacman not being #1 over PBF. No more saying he takes on all comers and the best at each weight class. You are talking about excitement as though it matters over the caliber of fighter you face. I don't care how Pacman wins or loses. Its about who he faces IMO.
Using that logic, why isn't Marquez up there in the p4p ratings? Its cause who he's faced since Pac. He's only fought guzman's leftovers in turdsak, Chris John (which we all know was basically know was a wash) Barrera (who people can argue has been washed up since MAB/Pac 1, ringwars whatever excuses) and now he's facing no..not a high caliber opponent at 130 like Soto, Guzman or Valero but...ding ding ding ROCKY f'n JUAREZ. So put your own biased reasons to every boxer. Who has Marquez faced lately? he's only strung along 6 wins against highly questionable opponents coming off losses. All Pac has to do is keep knocking people out. Let his fists do the talking. The only reason Pac IS way up there in the P4P lists is because of his KO ratio and the fact that he wins. Mayweather is #1 because his boxing skills and the fact that he's undefeated. And you don't think Mayweather hasn't been taking the easier path since his last fight vs Castillo? Pound for Pound has always meant you put 2 fighters at any weight and you adjust according to height weight blah blah blah whatever. You put Pacqiao's power and speed and KO ratio vs Mayweather's speed, boxing skill, and defense. Could Mayweather survive an onslought from Pacquiao? Could Pacquiao get through PBF's defense. Maybe Pac's 1-2 knocks PBF down. Maybe PBF counters the hell out of Pac's onslaught. Common wisdom has always been 'boxer beats a puncher' anyday. But who knows, that's what the pfp rankings are for. I think excitement does matter over the fighter you face. Why do you think so many people didn't buy his last ppv? Everybody knew Barrera wasn't going to fight. I didn't hear any "Mehico Mehico" chants that were audible on the television. Face it, MAB-Pac II was a yawner. Pac-Marquez II will be a yawner. Using the logic from the this fight, you think Marquez will engage against Pac? Hell no. And the only people who DID buy the MAB/Pac 2 were mexicans who bought into the hype that MAB had one last hurrah left in him and filipinos who would buy Manny Pacquiao albums. They'll buy anything with a philippines flag over it. Excitement is the same reason why PBF is on a show like Dancing with the Stars. He needs to draw an audience so he has to branch out to old crooners who wouldn't pay sh*t to watch him in the first place. Everyone is smarting over buying that crap ppv that was PBF vs DLH. As talented as PBF is, overall..people don't want to pay 50 bucks to see the skill of PBF. Its the same reason why I won't be paying money to watch PBF outpoint Hatton. Don't get me wrong, I love the sweet science that PBF brings. Is it worth my 50 bucks. Hell no. Is he p4p in my book as #1? Does it really matter. Remember, P4P rankings is a gigantic trinket so that a boxer can dictate how much money he can command.
No doubt. Always thought Pacman had the heart of a warrior. But I guess the money is getting to his head. He hasnt taken a risk since the first Morales fight almost 3 years ago now. And it doesnt look like he wants to test himself anytime soon.
Juan Manuel Marquez is ranked #3 P4P by Ring Magazine. And most think he beat John EASILY 8-4. So you're first point is a little off. I also make no mention of JMM or his status. I am talking about Pacman's competition and who he should be fighting if he wants to be considered the best in the business AND continue saying he takes on all challengers. Biased reasons? I didn't realize wanting fighters to fight the best fighter was BIASED. I am applying the same logic across the board. PBF has fought larger fighters and champions in his last few fights. Pacman hasn't fought a champion at 130. PBF is about to fight a P4P rated fighter who is also a champion and unbeaten. Pacman just fought someone he already beat who lost his last fight. You are going by names apparently. Names mean nothing....the circumstances and the state of the fighter matter. P4P is about what you said, yet proof of how good a fighter is illustrated by the competition they defeat. Excitement matters for MONEY. Not legacy, which is what I am talking about. I ordered Pacman-MAB 2 and I am not a Mexican or Pinoy. No matter how exciting a fight is at the end of the day, you still have a winner and a loser, and when people rate fighters, talk about their greatness, excitement is only there to BOOST their legacy. Pacman, PBF, whomever need to fight the best fights available to them if they want to be rated highly. I said that they can fight who they choose, but they will be judged accordingly. I am not wrong in that assessment.
When its all said and done Pac will achieve his goals..AND he'll still have his detractors. Everyone does. KG, who are you to judge what Pac's legacy is? Is Pac's legacy of knocking out MAB, JMM and Morales in a span of 3 years NOT a great achievement in itself? JMM took how long to finally hook up with MAB, but he's considered a top p4p for winning a close fight against a washed up MAB? JMM's Legacy like it or not is not facing Pac for an immediate rematch. he's only after Pac cause of the money, not for redemption..cause in his mind he KNOWS a scoring error salvaged ONLY a draw with his career defining 'legacy' and fight. Seriously, JMM and MAB could have hooked up while the the Pac/Morales trilogy was going on. Top Rank's big plan is to screw JMM out of a fight with Pacquiao. Its revenge for not taking the immediate rematch when JMM was with Top Rank. JMM doesn't deserve to wash the flip flops that Pacquiao walks on. You know it, I know it...JMM screwed himself by listening to Nacho. Ohhh, PBF went up in weight to fight a washed up DLH. Did he not want this fight for just the money? Same thing with Pac. He fought Barrera cause it was the easier fight AND it put to rest some of the doubts about the first fight. plus getting paid 7 mil for the fight had something to do with it. Now PBF fighting the worst out of the 147's out there in Hatton. Hatton beat up a washed up Castillo. big deal...talk to me about floyd's legacy when he fights the Cotto's, the Moselys or somebody who is a serious threat to him at that weight. Not the Sharmba Mitchells and the Zab Judah's of the world.
