Pacquiao has improved so much since the early days, don't you all remember how he could never box on the backfoot, how he had such a predictable punching pattern, how he used to lunge much more into punches, his lateral movement used to be largly ineffective, how he look like a one legged man in a ass kicking contest lol that right hand was basically useless before now Roach's got him doubling hooks, controllin distance and settin up with it. He's almost unrecognizable from the raw material of the early days plus he carries the weight well. Cotto's jab is pretty good but I can only recall one fight (Marquez did it more with straight rights and is one of the best counter punchers in the game) where Manny was given fits with it against morales but it was a purer boxer with more skillset which made it effective. Cotto is more methodical and basic then that plus Manny has great speed and a good slip game with his head movement & as i said he's improved immeasurably since Morales 1. Just can't see how he nullifys the speed watch how Cotto gets beaten to the punch and pedestrian he looks & news for yall manny ain't as small as you think.
I honestly think Pacquiao would have a lot of trouble against a fighter with a very good defence (ie. Mayweather). Cotto looked as if he had improved his defence since the Margarito fight against Jennings, but the Clottey fight proved otherwise. There are some interesting factors: Joshua Clottey is a big, hard hitting welterweight. Pacquiao hasn't fought a fighter who stuck to their gameplan above super-featherweight. Surely if Cotto can take Clottey's punches he can take Pacquiao's ones, right? Not necessarily, just look at how Ricky Hatton hit the canvas. Pacquiao has freakish power for a man of his stature. With Cotto taking as many shots as he does (against Clottey, Margarito and so on) it is very likely that Pacquiao will get the chance to land that Hail Mary punch. If he gets that chance, he most certainly will take it and win by knockout. I'm not ruling out a Cotto win but I'm edging towards Pacquiao, although to be honest I'm not sure Pacquiao will be as well prepared as Cotto.
I love-em both but it's Cotto all the way here for me, i went to the margo/Cotto fight & got it spot on at 22/1 but this is a totally diff job here, just wait till pac gets cracked by Cotto's quick countering left hooks, just look at the shock on Clottey's face when he found himself on his arse at the end of the 1st when he was piling into Cotto:yep This fight may go the whole way as i don't see pac going after Cotto & if he does i see him coming 2 grief sooner or later, this is a survival fight for pac as far as i'am concerned, Cotto's a class act & a damn fine boxer with a good defence & boxing brain BUT if Pac pulls this off then he's really got to be given his prop's as he is a modern day phenom but i see this as one step 2 far:smoke
I like Cotto in this one. I like Pac but believe he's getting overhyped now, on the back of 2 wins that in reality were not all that great. DLH and Hatton 2 of the most overrated fighters in a long time...ever maybe. I thought he lost twice to JMM. Cotto is a beast. Put it this way....I think at 2/1 Cotto is worth an investment. To me it looks close to 50/50.
I have no idea how this fight plays out. So many unanswered questions. The so called gameplan for pacquiao would be to box cotto(in and out) rather than sit in front of him and trade....but you just know...you just know....Pacquaio being Pacquiao will want to exchange with cotto at some point and it will make for thrilling action.
I've just been checking the odds for this fight on betfred and you can get 6-1 for Cotto to win this on points .. That sounds like a very decent punt to me .. Im actually a little unsure of who will win this one, at first i thought Pac all the way but now im wavering, it should be interesting, but im definitely having a piece of that 6-1 for a Cotto points win ..
Better get all yer "soon too be" ex-mates 2 lump up on Pacman then:hey maybe get 10nzzer by the 1st ring a ding:smoke
This fight is 50/50 IMO, thats brilliant odds, wtf are the bookies thinking ? :huh Either way, I might slip a note on Cotto pts even tho Im leaning very slightly towards Pacquiao, all to gain with little to lose at those odds.
