MAB was looking to survive and go the distance for what he claimed beforehand would be his last fight. Obviously getting stopped by Pacman was a sore point for Marco and he wanted to end things on a more positive note. He didn't want to mix it up the entire fight, even when he had the upper hand. Scar is right, similar situation to Tarver/Jones III.

I swear to god 90% of the posters here have a fifth grade comprehension of the sport of boxing. At best.

Didn't Roach and Arum have to fly to the Philippines personally to get Pac to actually train for this fight? If I recall correctly a lot of people thought that he was losing focus at the time.

he fought both so quit complaining. JMM vs Barrera was a close hard-fought battle where some people thought MAB deserved to win. Pacquiao fought them both and beat them both. I don't see how you can fault him here.

I remember watching that fight and thinking it was quite lacklustre, but after thinking about it, it was really the first time i saw manny BOXING rather than goin in heads first, I think that is the fight where manny started showing a bit of new colours in his game

this fight believe it or not (along with the marquez and morales I) is one of the reasons i dont see manny as beating mayweather. Barrera didnt come to fight but he proved an elusive target and he controlled the distance very well. If he would have taken more chances he would have been in the fight (but obviously run the risk of losing by KO again).

It wasnt exactly a new style nor was it a surprise, Barrera had been putting in boring performances regularly in the past few yrs... even Pac says before the fight that he knows Barrera wont even attempt to attack him, he is coming to box defensively.

Good man, the 2nd fight is not even up for debate, Morales win without doubt.
I also scored the 3rd fight a draw with MAB winning 4 of the 1st 6 & EM winning 4 of the last 6.
The 1st fight was a nightmare to score, too many close rds.

    :good

even though it was tagged by some as the most boring pacman fight ever since he was seen in the US, it was the fight were i noticed pac's tremendous improvement by learning to beat an opponent by boxing them and not always rely in overpowering them.

I feel like Morales put up a much better fight against pacquiao than barrera did in either one of hit tries.

No, I think it was a case of MAB deciding that discretion was the better part of valor, and that HE would decide on the way he would lose to Pac that time, that by going the distance with Pac would be a moral victory of sorts. Kind of like how Bonecrusher Smith lost to Mike Tyson..he just decided that he (Smith) might lose, but he would deny Mike the satisfaction of knocking him out..that's what Barrera did against Pac, IMO., and I don't blame him...I mean why should a fighter ALWAYS go out on his shield...the fans don't pay your hospital bills, after all, and they don't care that after all a fighters fighting days are behind him whether he has the brain cells left over to live a functional life.

I felt that way too.. the fight itself wasnt really boring to be honest, its just that a lot of people expected fireworks (I wasnt one of them)

Pac dominated MAB boxistically.......and it goes to show you just how good JMM's boxing skills arel that Pac boxistically speaking cant match chess moves with him......

......so for those who now say that Pac's boxing skills have improved tremendously......they're right, Pac has improved his boxing skills, but I've always said, not nearly enough for those skills to carry him through vs a true skill fighter at the top of his game.

......a good comparison to Pac imo is Felix Trinidad.....a destroyer and even a good boxer in every sense of the word.....but up against a true skill fighter at the top of his game, and Trinidad's just like Pacquiao, are going to have alot of their weaknesses exposed!

......and before the ******* is up in a frenzy, my statement does'nt diminish Pac the fighter as I believe that like Trinidad, they're both still great fighters .......
.....only the very best skill fighters have the ability to expose their weaknesses, and that still makes them great fighters.
