Except that isnt the rules and thats not why the belt isnt up in this fight. WW = 140-147 and anywhere in between.

Cotto isnt even a champion anyway he needs to rematch Margarito and have someone check the Mexicans wraps so Margo can prove the real reason Cotto took a pasting

You can they would both weigh under the Welterweight limit an dtherefore be eligible to box for the Welterweight title.

Even if they weight 135lbs they would still be eligible for it

Roach is looking out for his fighter.

Also Roger never really provoked Roach and everything was set up when Roach came into Oscars camp for the Mayweather vs Oscar fight so there was no need for arguments like this. And Roach has only really just become a celebrity since Pac beat Oscar so now hes in the limelight more he might say more things.

Im pretty sure Roach was pissed off at Oscar as he left him to go back to Mayweather to train.

If they weigh below 147 the Welterweight title should be on the line.

    Greg and PP,

You're missing the point. Welterweight is 147, a boxer can weigh in at any weight below that and still fight for the title (I think Henry Armstrong did it) but you can't FORCE the other guy to do it as well. Which is what Pac is asking Cotto to do.

:dealIt annoys me that everyone ignores this as well. Let Pacman weigh what he wants but as it's Cotto's title, he shouldn't be forced into a catchweight fight- it's common sense.

No, welterweight isn't between 140 and 147. Its anywhere up to 147, theres a difference. You can be 126lbs and fight for the welterweight title but at least you had the option of weighing in at 147.

Thats the issue here, Pac wants Cotto to weigh in at 145.

If Cotto agrees to it its his bad, if he really dosent want it he dosent have to do it. Although i really dont know what 2lbs will make except from making Cotto give ground and perhaps have a mental edge over him.

    see above

It has happened before just off the top of my head i think Meldrick Taylor vs Terry Norris was a LMW title fight set at 152lbs or something strange

Pac-Cotto doesnt really excite me, I had Pac down for a convincing win.

    I prefer to see Pac-Mosely

    Id prefer Pac vs Mayweather

as i like Mayweather and Marquez and dont want them to fight as i dont know hwo i want to win a draw would be best or if one of them slipped on the way in and couldnt fight.

I thought the fight was already signed? Oh well...it will get sorted out, I am pretty sure of that.

I agree with GazOC and icemax, you should not force a fighter down to a weight below the divisions limit.

Instead of Cotto having to pay $1m per pound he was over, Pacquiao should have to pay Cotto $1m for every pound he is under.

Maybe.....with Hatton it was about who got the lions share of the purse.. 52/48 for Pac Man I think...?? :think

I think they both want this fight so they can put the wheels in motion to be the opponent for PBF....I think that PBF beats Pac Man all night long.....:yep

I'm not unhappy about this i feel Cotto is getting out of way of trouble here. He's best when fight's at 146 and can rehydrate up into 150's. I feel a fresh Cotto beats Pacquiao. Pacquaio's last three fights have been from lightweight to Welterweight back to Light Welterweight. I've read on these boards that He walks around as a Welterweight if not higher...now to me that means there should be no reason why this fight isn't at 147.

I feel that yet while he has a great legacy to leave he will be remembered by true fans as a man who had fights on his terms and had key advantages. Analysts should not mention his name in the same breath as Henry Armstrong...IMO because he's defrauding his achievements by making demands that are detrimental to his opponents physcial fighting shape.

He's a great fighter but i don't like way him and Roach are going about discussions with regards to fights.
