There are only 2 reasons why Pac is rated #1 p4p.

1. The gift decision he got over Marquez.
2. Mayweather's "retirement"


Change either of those two outcomes and Pac gets bumped down to #2, 3, or 4 on the p4p lists.

The comparison starts with " if only boxer A is in the same weightclass as Boxer B". We make guesses with the assumption that the skills remain the same, that one is better than the other. We seldom get a chance to see the two best boxers exist in the same weight class where the comparison can be answered with finality, that is why not seeing them fight is frustrating.

 

Pretenders will always get exposed on the top, just like Zab Judah. Maybe that's why Floyd is avoiding Pac.

Being better is used to measure possible outcomes in head to head fights. Accomplishments are used to measure greatness. Being born to be better than someone doesn't mean you will accomplish more than that person. That is why the mental part of the sport is greater than the physical one. Because you have to believe you can actually do something before you try it.
