I hope it doesn't happen. I'm just fine with people believing Pacquiao would win this. Would hate the see the sadness on Pacquiao's part & "I told you idiots" on Mayweather's part if/when Mayweather makes it a one sided clinic
actually he has. he said that he believes he would be making plans on the opposite side of the ring against floyd again but he does not believe that it would be for pacquiao and he thinks it would be for khan. and why not? floyd is known to fight GBP fighters for the last 5 years. GBP would rather have floyd fight khan than pacquiao to keep all the money in-house. also floyd sees khan as a much easier opponent but a big money fight.
Arum may be a liar, but he is a genius at this thing. Next, he will agree to Floyd camp's demand that Pac will only train in the US, and will then set up Pac's camp at the US embassy in the Philippines. The US embassy afterall is US territory.
:think GBP in house I get. Do you have a source for the Roach statement? As an outsider looking in seems that may create tension in the Roach/Pacman marriage, no?
Dare I say sounds like the Don Kingesque tactics of old:fire Would also further increase mainstream media publicity for the fight in an evil way albeit
like i said, boxing is a business and Floyd is boxing's ultimate businessman. If he doesnt accept the fight, its a business decision that is carefully deliberated by Floyd and his close advisers. Floyd must weigh the benefits of being brutally knocked out by Pacquiao and earning a large "lump sum" payday vs. avoiding Pacquiao and earning very lucrative "cash in" profits on an annual basis. Whatever issues brought up were never legitimate and Floyd fans have rationalized their boy's ducking to lift up their collective self-esteems - an interesting but tiresome exercise in mass hysteria. I suspect Floyd will make a "business decision" to avoid Manny Pacquiao simply because he is too dangerous and a threat to his plans of fighting every 1.5 to 2 years and cashing in 20 mil against opponents he can easily defeat. However, for the sake of Floyd's fans, I hope he accepts the fight.
I've always felt that Pacquiao and Mayweather would meet in late 2012 in a 'End Times' themed type fight. This is the biggest fight in years so it would make sense to set it up at the best time. The best time is late 2012 when all the 'end times 2012' hype will be at it's peak. Why would they fight on some random date in 2011 when they could have the biggest event of the decade in 2012? Makes sense. More sense than "Mayweather is scared" or "Pacquiao does steroids." You don't get to the level of Mayweather of Pacquiao by being scared or doing steroids. Those are the most ******ed reasons I have ever heard.
i can't remember if it's an interview in print or video but most probably in print. i would try to look at it though. i don't think it will for the meantime but once khan furthers develop and pacquiao slipped, there could be some tensions in the near future.
Good points Dick, I hope for the sake of all boxing fans this fight happens, yet I cannot blame Floyd for his sheer and utter brilliant business, management, and marketing intellect.
If it were my trainer, to say the least I'd be pissed. To take away my dream fight and give it to the other guy I'd be pissed. And what if Khan wins, in the slim scenario. Who does he train?
Really?!? If anybody's been keeping the money "in-house" it's Arum. Cotto, Clottey, Margarito - hell, he even forced Mosley and Marquez to leave Golden Boy to get fights with Pacquiao. Guaranteed if he picks up Bradley we will be seeing Pac/Bradley next year and not Pac/May. Besides, Khan acknowledges he's not ready for Mayweather. He has said he will need at least until the end of next year to comfortably settle into the WW division. And everybody saying that Pac is going to make a ton of money off of the law suit, wake up. The lawsuit is about Pac getting Mayweather to retract/apologize for his comments, not making a ton of money. Being awarded millions for this type of defamation is unprecedented and highly unlikely. Its about morals/ethics - not money.
But people have said Floyd is planning on fighting every 1.5-2 years, wouldn't that give Khan enough time to move up?
