This. Which obviously means Manny needs to play his strengths and make Marquez respond. At the very least, he needs to make if seem he's landing some punches to fool those judges and make the crowd go wild.
It is Manny who needs the room and space to pull this off, not Marquez.

I agree with Bogo's point about catching Marquez in an exchange. I was thinking about how Pac could possibly approach the fight, and that's the only thing I can come up with. In the second fight, Marquez was dropped when he was preparing to throw a punch, and he was also wobbled quite badly when he was in the middle of throwing one. Pac has to find a way to force him into exchanges and land a big left. The problem is that it's so difficult to pull off.

Feinting does sound sensible, especially because he's dealing with a counter-puncher, but Marquez seems to read Pac's feints really well. One of Pac's favourite feints is to suddenly duck/dip, getting the opponent to lower the guard, before quickly exploding into a 1-2. (He used it against Marquez in the first round of their first fight, and he also dropped Mosley with it.) Marquez is able to read that now, though, along with other Pac moves. He just maintains distance and steps back, ready to counter the real punch. Tricky opponent.

I have to disagree. Tho Pacquiao is a volume and come forward pressure fighter, he is considered a mid-range fighter. Manny's best weapon against Jmm would be his left hook, its the punch that has caught Juan more often. Jmm got overconfident and stood and traded with Katsidis, who may be a B, C level fighter, but at the time had a helluva worldclass left hook that hurt Jmm more than any of Pacman's punches.

The blueprint to beat Jmm is already laid out, but Manny tho he was able to time and counter Hatton he is getting less and less effective against Jmm each time they fight. He doesn't have the patience to counter and outfox Marquez. Being flatfooted would make it an even easier fight for Marquez. Sure, Manny will punch harder, but thats not going to help him vs Marquez. Katsidis hurt Marquez more than anyone in his career, but Katsidis tho valiant paid the price.

in case some people here dont know, jmm is naturally bigger than pac. slightly taller and has a wider build than pac. jmm just stayed in the lower weights longer than pac.

Pac is best at mid-range, he doesn't know how to infight well.

Marquez has studied Pac's feints religiously; he noted many times in different occasions how fast they are. The first KD of their first fight was set up by a great feint followed by an unsuspected 1-2. By the 3rd fight he's seen that feint so many times look at the replay of the last exchange in round 4, he ducks to his left and brings the fight inside and finishes off clean shot. That same clip is also why trying to catch Juan in the exchanges is a double edged sword because he himself can get caught.

Overall, impressions of the third fight Pac was far more tentative to throw than the first 2, whether it was due to Marquez' movement or he respected his power.

No he shouldn't. First of all Manny doesn't have the best foot work. Most people (pac fans) confuse his foot speed with foot work. He couldn't even get his lead foot to the outside of JMM in their last fight to save his life. He also doesn't know how to cut off the ring. Fighting in a phone booth would get him ****ed up. Manny is not an inside fighter and JMM would **** him with body shots. Manny's is best at mid range and if he can bring a good jab with him that he can commit to and be patient he could possibly win this fight.

pacquiao just needs to be active, pepper marquez with jabs, half of which dont even have to land, just something to keep marquez pre-occupied

marquez' main defense is his legs, and at 39 with his shot reflexes he is prone to leads, pacquiao's 1-2 is just too obvious and probabley muscle memory for jmm at this point, he needs to throw lead lefts instead

    basically for pacquiao it's

    jab jab jab, jab alot
lead lefts when he wants to build up points
and go to the body to beat marquez, something pacquiao as of late has seemed to shy away from despite the elusiveness marquez and bradley showed him at times, an esspecially devestating combo would be the uppercut to marquez's chest/body and a right hook to the head, ala gary russell
uppercut to the body would work great against the ducking marquez, atleast it worked great for pacquiao in the 11th when he adapted to it in thier last fight, if he comes in to the 4th like he finished the 3rd pacquiao might get a kd at the least again

Can we place this down as one of the worst strategies that a pac fan has come up with to combat JMM?
