It's not a solid card though, it's a great fighter against a shot fighter, a potentially excellent fighter against a very shot fighter, and a former middleweight champion against more than likely a no-hoper so he can build confidence. It's a poor card with some stellar names, and that's all it is.
Arce v Darchinyan was a good fight to watch imo. Sure it was one sided but enjoyable none the less. I doubt he is going to be go belly up early in this one either.
You have the P4P #1 fighter in the world / most exciting fighter in the world , fighting a 3 weight world champion who stunk the joint out in a bad stylistic match up last time out !!! You have the current 2nd best LW in the world fighting a rematch of a very competetive , entertaining fight last time out for the WBC strap . Vasquez Jr needs an opponent , and Arce is providing that and not much else , granted !!!! but its another world title fight Pavlik's return , former MW champion of the world ................. To have 3 world title's on the line and a former P4P entry / world champion on the same card , is a good card , thats period !!

No it's not. Period. I look at what fights are on the card, how they are as match ups based on the current state of the fighters partaking. Now, Mora may have been a bad fight stylistically, but are you telling me if he wasn't shot that he wouldn't have beaten Mora? Take into account that Bryan Vera just beat Mora and I think you have your answer. To call Mosley a good opponent is bordering on idiocy. He offers nothing other than name value, and barring one round was absolutely dominated by Pacquiao's main rival. He's, essentially, being awarded for throwing one right hand in May last year. It's not a good fight. Period. I dont dispute that Soto-Antillion II is a good fight. I'm not that pessimistic. Though Soto is not the second best lightweight in the world. ''It's another world title fight.'' WOW! Maybe if they stick Gilberto Keb Baas vs some bum on the card it'll be the best of the year! Much like Mosley, Arce is getting a fight due to name value. It's been a long time since he's had a relevant win, and he was absolutely blessed to get the decision against Parra. Not to mention he lost a decision to Nongqayi. His form guide at super-bantam consists of some KO's over over matched opponents and a gift decision. He's not even the best fighter WV2 has fought, that honour falls to Marvin Sonsona. But there will be a shiny belt on display, that's good then! I hold judgement on Pavlik until his opponent is announced, but I doubt it'll be Martinez, Pirog etc and will more than likely just be a fight against an overmatched opponent in order for him to build up his confidence. He's coming of a loss as well as a stint in rehab, do you honestly think Arum's going to put him in with a live opponent? What Arum has seemingly set out to do with this card is throw a few 'big' names on it and hope people will think that equals a good card. It's a ****ing joke of a supposedly 'world-class' night of boxing, unless you consider 'world-class' to be good fighters beating up unfit adversaries. But he's obviously accomplishing what he set out to do, he's roped at least one person in anyways.
Are you telling me if you were Arum you'd put Pavlik back in there with anybody live ??? , the guy has just got over alchaholism , and thats if he is over it ??? , he doesnt deserve a free pass by any means but like you have eluded too chances are it will be a tomatoe . Look ............................ I just like the fact Arum has Pacquiao , Mosley , Soto , WVJr , and Pavlik on show , yes Arce is savagely out matched , and yes all signs point to Mosley being done , and yes Pavlik will probably get a free pass .............. but at least we are seing them in action , who was there for Pacquiao , Berto ??? not even remotely close to being confirmed as elite , Bradley and Alexander were out , as was Maidana , Khan is'nt worth mentioning , Mayweather is out , he wont fight Williams or Martinez !!!! The only other option was Berto , who is said in Arums words to be " paid too much " , Mosley made himself available and Arum made a deal , its boxing politics ****in get over it !!! Soto in my eyes is the 2nd best LW in the world , its a debatable point but if i was asked to show my top ten LW rankings right now id have him #2 , my opinion . I wasnt banging the drum that every fight on this card is a well balanced world title fight that will be contested right down to the last second , i merely said it was a strong card , and its not often enough you see 3 world title fights on one card !!
Of course you wouldn't put him in with anybody live, and that's precisely my point. Just because a guy used to hold some belts doesn't make it a good fight. I understand the logic, obviously, it's neccessary to put him in with someone he can dispose of easy in order to build his confidence. But that doesn't mean I think it contributes to a great card, it is what it is, a relatively meaningless fight that doesn't hold any worth. The fact that they are on show may be a good thing, sure(after all, WV2 is one of my favourite fighters). But the fact that they're put in very uncompetitve fights means it's not a good card. It can be twisted whatever way you like, but these fights are poor individually and, as a result, are poor when they're thrown together on the one card. Berto may not be elite, but he's much closer to it than the current version of Mosley, as is JMM. I dont like the idea of Pac-JMM III but it dwarfs that of Pac-Mosley, which offers nothing but a payday for all involved. Berto would not have been paid more than Mosley is getting paid. As I already stated, JMM was the second most viable option(after Berto), he probably would command the same pay as Mosley(maybe less), and it would be a much more significant fight. I'd personally have Acosta and Guerrero above him. Just because there is 'world' title fights doesn't make it a good card. You and I both know that 'world' titles are irrelavant and meaningless in boxing today. It's a few mismatches and one good fight between two top 10 guys. That's it. Not a strong card, a poor card with big-name fighters.
In this instance you have 3 genuine fighters worthy of being labelled as world champions , that to me is interesting , clearly not to you !! You have made your point , and its a good one , we are just of different opinions . It would be nice to see Arum match Pavlik with someone live , although unlikely , and rather sad that its a foregone conclusion he's getting a tomato !!!
I know it's three genuine fighters, four in fact. But apart from Soto, none of the other fighters have anywhere near good opponents(again, I'm assuming with Pavlik). It's interesting to see how Pac, WV2 and Pavlik get on in their respective fights, like I said, I'm a huge Vazquez Jr fan. I'm interested in any boxing I see, I love the sport. And it's because I love the sport that I dont accept fights such as these as being a solid card, it's not. I hate Pacquiao-Mosley, it's a terrible fight, really terrible, and Arum knows it, but he'll pass it off as a ''massive'' event, it's a farce. And he's a hypocrite, I'm not a huge Mayweather fan(though I do love watching him fight), but that Arum and the people around Team Pac would chastise him for fighting Mosley and try to pass him off as a viable Pacquiao opponent is redundant. Mosley is shot, Pacquiao is the #1 fighter P4P, that's not an acceptable fight in my eyes. And that's why I dont like this card being called good, there's a good chance the main event will be the most one-sided, which would be some feat considering how one-sided the others are. Pacquiao could've fought Berto or JMM, WV2 could've fought a host of respectable names at 122, it didn't even have to be a big name, or one of the guys at the top of the division, just someone who would have given him a tough fight where he could learn something, Ndlovu for example. Now those, coupled with Soto-Antillion II and a returning Pavlik, would have made a solid card. This is not, it's a mis-match, a mis-match and another (presumeable) mis-match with a good fight, and that's not a solid card.
