This fight sounds interesting but I dont want to see Cotto going back down in weight. I think hes optimal at 147 but I hear Roach say that 140 is pac's weight and he's not moving up so who knows...

“If Cotto wants to come down a few pounds, we can make that happen. Or we can go with Shane Mosley.”

I think they want Cotto to come into the ring ODHL style for them. I mean if you can fight at 147 for Oscar but why can't you fight at 147 with Cotto?

Are they going to ask that Mosley come down in weight also?

As much as these fights may be intriguing I don't want to see Mosley or Cotto dehydrated in the ring just to give Pac an advantage and if Roach feels that they are too big for Pac then maybe he should leave the WW alone.

damn, cotto would rest for 8 months...in the 90s, the elite fighters fought thrice a year. who knows, by 2020, every boxer would just fight once a year

The 90's? In the 40's Ray Robinson had like years with 13 odd fights a year.

When the older generation pick the old school over the new school a lot of people groan - But those guys are tougher than todays guys no doubt.

I would favour Pac to beat Cotto, for as solid as Cotto is, Manny is too fast and too dynamic for him - IMO.

he'll need the rest in order to get his weight together and effectively get his new camp and new trainer together, so i say he has an excuse this time

but you do have a point, fight output does decline once they hit elite level, 3 fights a year is the best you can hope for

blame Floyd for spending the latter half of his career running from the fights we all wanted to see, now he's getting what he deserves and is being frozen out of the biggest fights, besides, like i said b4, i'd rather see Pac-Cotto go to war then FMJ run from Pac for 12 rounds straight

cotto and pavlik should fight at an average of thrice a year...when oscar, jones and trinidad was in their prime, the fight 3x a year...

maybe fighting twice a year may lead to longer career but 3 fights a year is still the proper number...

im just scared that elite fighters may fight once a year in the coming years..look at the top 10 p4p...you hardly see anyone fighting 3x a year..

i agree with you, i'd personally like to see every P4P level fighter fight 4 times a year, once every season, but even 3 times a year would be great, but i mean......what can ya do?, lets just hope the next generation of guys dont follow suit, the Donaires, Juanmas, and Ortiz's of the world

you aint never lied, i have a very high tolerance for "boring fights" but even that one broke me.....and yeah, that fight was pointless as ****, specially since it was after the Gatti fight which i didn't want to see to begin with

Pac and Arum don't seem to be on the same page. Arums says Cotto is next, Pac says Mayweather is next. I think it's safe to assume which is the bigger fight. I'd be happy with either fight though. If Pac did fight Cotto, it would have to be at a catchweight of 143 lbs. Pac has a good shot at beating Cotto at that weight. Cotto is wide open for that straight left and doesn't seem to defend well against right hands either. Pac's right hook has gotten a lot better. This would be a very interesting fight. Cotto could concieveably just run through Pac. However, he is also liable to get smoked as well.
