Return of the King, did you seriously just refer to Pacquaio vs Hatton as a "box office disaster?" Are you a moron or just a blind hater?

    From Rafael's column:

"the fight sits at about 825,000 domestic pay-per-view buys with the likelihood that when they're all counted, the total will reach 850,000 or more.

That means the fight generated almost $50 million from the American pay-per-view, a huge number that doesn't even take into account the pay-per-view figures from Hatton's turf in the United Kingdom, where the fight easily could have done 1 million buys. Nor does it take into account the live gate of $8,832,950 or the closed-circuit ticket sales of $575,750 in Las Vegas alone. There's also a pile of cash from the rest of the closed-circuit and international television sales, a seven-figure license fee from HBO for the delayed broadcast rights, sponsorship money and merchandise revenue."

OH MY GOD!! The biggest disaster since the return of MechaGodzilla!!!!!! Dude, wake up. 825,00 is the legit number, might go as high as 850,000. The reason arum won't release the number is because his dumb ass told everyone it would do no less than a million, and by doing so, somehow found a way to make a number as huge as 850,000 seem like a disappointment. A few days before the fight Richard Shaffer was asked to comment on the 1 million buys projection, and reiterated the fact that a million was a gigantic number, and he would be happy with more than 600,000. The reason Arum won't release is because he doesn't want to admit he was wrong with his estimate, even if the actual, genuine PPV numbers are a smashing success. He should be touting this as a hug hit, but he's so stubborn he won't because he'll have to admit being a bit overly optimistic. It's a shame, really.

How did you come to this ridiculous conclusion? The economy had nothing to do with the Hatton-Pac ppv. I don't think Hatton-Pac sold 800,000 ppv's anyway. Arum has been floating ppv sales since times began.

Yeah, and this number didn't come from Arum, so...???

How the hell is 825,000 PPV buys equal the public didn't buy into the fight? Jesus, have your favorite fighters and all, but quit with the delusional hating.

Of course it does. Pac-Solis did 225k...Pac for a LW title at higher weight with David Diaz does less than that. Calzaghe-Jones with 24/7 does 200k. Basically, no one has brought in numbers after the economy went bust other than Pac, Hatton & DLH. And oh Margarito-Cotto, an unmissable fight to fight fans really.

Your telling me the economy didnt even affect the sales by 50k? lol.

BTW Hatton-Mallignaggi only did 175k buys too...no way a fight like that with Hatton would have done that low in buys before the economy kicked n.

you can't factor-out recession unless you are someone who's getting your allowance from your parents. to make 850k PPV these days is huge.

Numbers are all that matter. Theories are **** at the negotiation table. Just watch Arum price out any PBF/Pac fight! Everything Arum and Roach have said points to them not ever wanting the fight.

Sorry, Floyd's the PPV King by numbers, not theories!

Sharing should be 55-45 for Pac. Otherwise, there will be no fight.

Floyd JMM will be boring. I don't think it will exceed Pac JMM. However, it might because of 24/7 documentary that will be shown on this fight while Pac JMM had none of this promo vehicle.

this dude has no logic at all..yes pacquiao/hatton did better than some oscar fights..your point? you're comparing apples to oranges. Hey look Pacquiao vs hatton did more ppv buys than Hoya vs Hernandez!! Recession is helping us!! :nut:nut:rofl:rofl
