No, I agree, the buildup isn't the same - but there isn't that personality clash that grabs peoples attention.

Down to earth, family man vs brash, trash talking yank

    as opposed to.....

The same family man vs quiet (ish) filipino with broken English

    Not quite the same.

I still think this will be a roaring success, over here anyway.

We'll i'm not sure how big the marketing is for this fight but I can't see it being less then 500, 000 in the states and 1 million in briton. Although with the rescetion and everything I'm kinda suprised on the 12 mill garaunteed purse that the fighters are getting. That does seem like a gamble on the promoters parts.

Yeah definetly, however tha what sold the mayweather v hatton fight to the general public, even non sports fans tuned in for that, this fight will do mega well whatever the buy rate when you consider the time its shown, i just can't see it doing a 1 mil

  7. My Local was chock-a-bloc at 4am for the Mayweather fight.... Everyone and his mother turned out to see it.

I can see it doing well.... but not as well

Half a mil in US, a mil in UK, a quarter mil around the rest of the world.

haha yea the promotion was not as good as the uk mayweather vs hatton commercials where they are both walking towards each other with all the fallen victims next to them until it says undefeated,

now im always seeing commercials for hatton putting his belts on this weight machine and saying the best title "weighs nothing at all" then hatton vs pac title for p4p u not seein that commericl every break on skysports

Main problem for the US market is that neither fighter is American or fighting for the Latino community, which makes it a lot harder to sell, despite both Pac and Ricky being popular in The States. Both can do PPV numbers in America, it's just not that same if a very popular Mexican (Morales) or American (Mayweather) star was involved. Also both being very nice guys in the press conferences and 24/7, it's hard to see the same hype Floyd created in his 24/7 shows. It helped a LOT! Given that PacMan was P4P#1 in the DLH fight and created half of the DLH-Maywather numbers, and Floyd did 850.000 vs. Hatton despite the huge and very emotional build-up, I don't expect Hatton-Pacquiao to reach the 700k mark in the US, 600k is about realistic to me.

The UK market will do about a million.

This fight is noway as big as Hatton-Mayweather was and we're less than 2 weeks away from the fight. People (non-boxing fans) were hyped for Hatton-Floyd a month before the fight, everyone wanted to watch and see Hatton shut up the brash, arrogant Yank.

hahaha yea i know nothing of what pac is capable of, just another promo to get the boxing casual fans rooting there 20 pointless hatton facts in a bar "hatton only been beat by the best" and then not even knowing pac's first name, at least they could of shown both fighters instead of just hatton and this weight machine
