The same was said for Clottey as well and looked what happened? I love how left that name off your list!
I'm not saying he has no chance...More like slim IMO...Just look at how Pac was kinda swollen after the Clottey...Just imagine, if Clottey would have thrown more....Now you got a guy in Martinez who is a lot more acticve than Clottey and probably pack a better punch than Clottey...You're failing to realize that Pac man gets hit a little bit to much. I agree, Pac has done some amamzing things in the past 2 years but you're asking to much of him to move up and fight a guy thats much bigger, just as quick, and can punch...Martinez is elusive in his own ways so I dont think he will worry to much about Pac's punches...For Manny to have a better chance IMO he has to tighten his " D" which he has but he still gets hit with uncalled for shots. Then to top it of, Martinez will keep him at bay with his height and reach...This is just a bad style match-up for Pac...I just dont see what he brings to the table to beat Martinez...let along KO him!
The problem lies in that being honest, realistic and logical doesn't always work in predicting Pac fights.
Maravilla too fast and unlike Manny's last 4-5 opponents with the exception of Diaz, Martinez is actually in his peak! Still, Manny can catch Martinez and one punch is all it would take to change it in Pac's favor. To be honest, I'd rather see this fight than Pac vs. Mayweather or Mosley. Maravilla is a man on fire and the man of the moment right now. I think if he fought Pac Martinez should beat him by decision.
Same. I have no real conclusive opinion or thought on how this would go about, but I do know that I'd pay to see it.
Martinez has never shown much power and is not a hard puncher. Any KO he got would be by massive accumulation of punishment. It's very possible he's got faster hands than Manny though. The better chin and harder punches would belong to Pacquaio even with Martinez weighing in at 160 and Manny at 148. The biggest problem for Martinez might be that he's off balance so much he could very possibly suffer multiple knock downs and lose rounds that he otherwise would win easily. That along with his low hands is probably his biggest flaw. Williams and Pavlik both got cheap knockdowns because Martinez was off balance. Martinez may be there to hit but Pavlik landed almost nothing flush that I recall despite having a good connect percentage. I think it'd be a good fight.
